The list has been reduced. Recruiting is becoming even more tedious and troubling. MAKE THE FKIN HIRE NOW!
Go get Canada. He doesn't bring the Briles worry. He has the potential to be the the long term hire we need. We need a completed, intact staff and hit the recruiting trail head on. We've got to make up ground on these qb's. Also- I believe Canada's philosophy and approach could attract both qb decommits. It's a good mix of diff concepts. Get em both back in board and let them compete for the job.

Or, possibly, just maybe, he is learning from the rushed process that resulted in Alleva's hire of him and wants to avoid the same mistake.

Don't disagree.

However procrastinating can be just as bad as panicking.

Why would making a hire now be characterized as panicking rather than making a rational decision?

What new information should we wait for? Is it really wise to wait for other candidates at this point?

Right. Making the rational decision would actually be sitting down and have an interview with these candidates.

Panicking would be hiring an OC now like some have suggested on this board. Hiring an OC now would entail bypassing the interviewing/vetting process.

This was code for "I'm waiting on my bestie to make up his mind." Only his supporters think he actually had a plan outside of that.

I must have overlooked the part where people were suggesting that we not even interview candidates.

Just to be clear Alleva's process was not rushed. It was incomplete. Alleva had a lot of time for a more extensive coaching search. I'm not saying that he wouldn't have concluded with O, I just saying the coaching search could have been more substantive.

You have to admit there is a lot of melt on this board and tRant because we haven't hired an OC yet, right?

It just takes time to hire the "right" OC. It seems that part of this board doesn't understand the hiring process.

If we had not sit on our hands for the last few weeks waiting on Kiffin, we could have interviewed several guys. If we had of we would have heard. Kiffin gets job yesterday, now we start.

I think the main word is "Likely". This is to keep the fidgety fans, media and recruits from panicking. It also allows the admin to do due diligence. THat being said, we obviously have a lot of 17 years olds and their daddies getting antsy so I expect an announcement soon. I'm kind of relieved Kiffin is off the table. I would prefer the focus of our team be on football and not a guy with baggage that will bail on us at first chance. I've warmed to the idea of Canada. I hope this is the direction we go and soon.
