Harsin would have been a much better hire and he still fits that bill.

Bingo. I don't know why we didn't go after him.

Apparently he and Hailey didn't get along.

Charlie Weis did just as bad at Notre Dame but changed the Cheifs offense to one of the best in the league

Why did he leave?

Weis' son has enrolled at Florida and is going to be allowed to work with the Football program. Jr. wants to be a coach. Kind of a "package deal".

So I gather you think UF made a bad decision with Fatboy?

Hell Charlie Weis did worse with top 5 recruiting classes. Jimmy Clausen #1 Qb in nation and they got worse every year.

I didn't think I would find myself saying this, but I'm going to trust CLM on this...for now, anyway. Let's see how it plays out. Things aren't always as they appear, and we don't know enough yet to make broad conclusions about this hire.

I guess I'm in the minority, but I like it. Some people aren't cut out for head coaches.

the kid was already going to Texas to work under Muschamp. Its not like that was the reason Weis went to UF.

There will be plenty of weeping and gnashing of teeth over this move... but some immediate positive takeaways:

1) He recruits Texas.
2) QB developer.
3) Run-oriented, pro style system that suits our personnel.

OBU, do you have any info on the Texas recruitment. I'm not a big fan of this hire and don't think he has a deep track record for QB development area but will happily take someone that can do work in Texas recruitment. I'm still pretty apathetic towards the hire but Tx recruiting definitely helps.

I like the hire. Compared to some of the crap floating around, it is good news. My main concern has nothing to do with Krag himself but with instituting a brand new system with a QB that just seems to be getting used to things. On the other hand, this also gives everyone a chance to start from scratch. Let the best QB win from the get go.

Can't wait til spring

Proven QB developer, experienced signal-caller, + very solid hire IMO.

Not much, but I know he has ties to the area, recruited it hard for Tulsa and tried to do the same at Louisville.

It can get worse. He was AWFUL at UofL. Took an orange bowl winning team that lost one game to 6-6, 5-7, 4-8 records the next 3 years.

How did his offenses do during that time period? Just in case you didn't know, he wasn't hired to run the LSU program.
