Like last year when Jimbo was a done deal as well....
People eat up the rumors because they want to believe someone. At the end of the day unless their source is Alleva, they really don't know shite.

He wasn't lying and neither were his sources. All of our sources were high level boosters who were lead to believe the same things that were posted. The situation was always very fluid. There was a time when even Joe thought Fisher was coming. The deal fell through bc he wanted too long of a contract and Joe decided we could get a better deal with Herman. When we got close with Herman, Texas sprung into action because they new there was a real chance of missing out. Herman had Texas ahead of LSU on his priority list. Joe knew that. O had a chance to make his pitch after the A&M game which I posted would happen long ago. His presentation blew Joe away. Joe met with some of the Board and they decided to avoid a bidding war with Herman and give O a chance. The whole situation was very fluid and nothing was final until 5AM last Saturday morning. Nothing's ever final until the ink is dry.
No one lied. But from the reactions of this board, next time we go through this, I guess you all would rather people who know what's going on to keep silent and not give you any insight since it could turn out wrong. Might as well just shut the coaching changes board down until LSU releases the official press release next time. Or only allow posts from people with a magic crystal ball.

The way Sexton was playing that if you agree to Ten years does he come back with 15? Did Jimbo really want to come here if he was allowing his agent to negotiate like that?

10 was what i heard from the 2 sauces I actually trust. 15 would clearly be sextoning. In that case, hit pause, reassess the list you've had over two months to compile, and continue the "search," faux-bid to Herman's camp and make UT drive their price up.

With the information that has leaked out about Alleva's negotiating tactics, it wouldn't suprise me that Alleva just walked away at that point because he's a petulant child.
That is called negotiating.
Has it even been reported that JA countered that offer because I would have if it meant getting Fisher.
I would have said I'm not giving you 10. I'll give you 7 and that's as high as I'm going on years and put the ball back in Sexton's court.
If Sexton came back with some bullshite at 10, and he was firm, then you walk away. But Jimbo has a job and doesn't NEED the LSU job. FSU will be really good either next year or the next. That was part of the problem of waiting a year too late. He has a RS FR QB seasoned and ready to go for the next couple of years. Jimbo had all the leverage.
Then Joe skipped plan C-Y and we landed Z.
Joe shouldn't have a job like this. He's not a closer and he can't play in the man's game.
