Mike knows his shite when it comes to player evaluations. If he can hire a contract guy to manage that part of the job then it could work. I like the move.

Jon Gruden seems to be building a front office with a draft guru and a numbers guy.

Mayock is an interesting hire. I'll have to wait to see how he does. I'll also say, in all honesty, while I'm glad he works for the Raiders, I'll miss watching him on draft day -- he was always very good at the television broadcast.

Seems to know his shite.

It's a different game altogether when you have to make decisions that define your success or failure. It's an interesting hire though.

He's really parlayed name dropping Belichick into a full career.

But he’s not going to be making the decisions.

He’s too old. I don’t think he will do well.

Gruden is the de facto GM. Mayock will run the draft, but Gruden will have final say on the picks.

The Raiders also have a longtime president that handles the day to day operations for Mark Davis. He actually spearheaded the move to Las Vegas.

Most GMs around the league will have more power and responsibilities than Mayock, at least initially. It’s a great opportunity for him to help rebuild a team, and he’ll have a lot of draft picks at his disposal.

It appears to me that the Raiders are doing what the Cowboys did when they started their run when JJ/BS was at the helm.

The NFL is better when the Raiders are winning.

With all of the high draft picks coming up, Oakland needs to nail them. Mayock knows his shite when it comes to college scouting. Very good move.

Well then that's the best gig I've ever heard of. Sounds like he's just a glorified advisor.

He was a pretty piss poor centerfielder in MLB. Not sure what qualifies him for NFL GM.
