Go look at the teams he played when he took over.

If he doesn't pull one out vs Stanford no one would have ever even discussed him.

Lost to UCLA and Norte Dame and didn't have to play ASU who was 10-3 that's season. Besides that he had 5 wins vs teams with middle of the road to shitty records.

Well for starters he didn't do better than his predecessor at Ole Miss. O's best season at Ole Miss was as good as Cutliffe's worst season. He actually lost more games in the first year he took over.

Did he?

He beat so me teams with losing records and upset Stanford, and otherwise lost to the 2 of the 3 good teams he had to face.

Look at LSU this year, so far O has beaten 2 teams with losing records and 5-3 C-USA team. We look great, but at the same time, he dodged two of the best teams on our schedule (Wisconsin and Auburn)

Um, what? He did so, so much worse than the coach that preceded him and the coach that followed him at Ole Miss, there's no comparison.

And he upset David Shaw which is the same thing as upsetting Les Miles: not much of an accomplishment no matter where they were ranked.

Guy at work is a USC fan. He wanted to retain Coach O.

He also thought that Les Miles was a good coach and that we should've kept him so I wouldn't take his advice.

I have a buddy of mine (lifelong USC fan from that area) that loved him as a coach, but he doesn't regret seeing O go. He felt that O would have eventually grown tired of the southern California culture and never would have fit in.

This may be true, but he is still their winningest coach since Pete Carrol so I would bet the fanbase would disagree with your buddy.

I understand this but I don't think one game should make THE difference. if LSU wins, many will continue to express your sentiments. so how many games will it take to answer the question should O be hired? I don't believe there is a clear answer. we have 4 damn tough games and a bowl game left (unless we run the table). if the team continues to perform at a very high level and we win all but one or two of the rest (and play very well in the loss(es)) LSU will have a very difficult decision. our recruiting is actually picking up steam and this team has done a 180.

passing on O could turn out to be a big mistake.

Either way, we shouldn't know who the coach is going to be until AFTER the regular season. If a decision is made after this game it'll be premature.

Kind of scares me to think that we have an administration that would actually do such a thing.

He could very well win tomorrow, then lose every other game. Not likely, but none of the remaining games are cupcake games. Florida is going to bring it and so will Arky and Aggy in their stadiums.

I mean, what could they say if he beats Bama,(They take off the interim tag) then he loses out? LSU would be the laughing stock of college football.
