Doesn’t matter if it’s wrong or right ain’t no way Ole Miss will let Lane keep coaching his former team while he is the new head coach of LSU. It won’t happen.

right word RUMORS. Nothing is official until it is. Thats a big difference. If they are bothered by it, theyll probably lose next weekend and make everything even easier.

I’m not even going to get into LSU’s side of it.
You think Ole Miss would let him coach that game with all of this swirling? You think they let him coach the game knowing he’s accepted the job at LSU? Thats asking for a distracted team to lose and cost them their playoff appearance.

Ole Miss’ best chance to keep Lane was to drag this out long enough for the Egg Bowl to pass. I’ve been saying it for a week now. Not to “screw” LSU and UF, but to try and keep him in Oxford.
Winning that game and making the playoffs would hit like crack. He would sign the extension on the emotional high alone and LSU would be left with their dick in their hand again.
Luckily, LSU, with a little help from Ole Miss, nipped that in the bud and moved the process along. If Lane is coming to LSU, it will be announced well before that game is played and their interim coach will have to take them to the playoffs. OR. Kiffin pulls the plug on the move early next week and LSU moves on to their next candidate.

Within a few hours of Kiffin saying he's moving on, the AD is reaching out to agents so they know Ole Miss has an opening
The time between said outreach and it being leaked to media sources (if not already leaked by LSU by then, which they are incentivized to do as soon as possible) is another hour, tops
The players will know pretty much immediately
