Pretend you are Joe Alleva, how do you handle the coaching search?

First thing I do is try bring in Jimbo. He has won a national championship, has ties to the state recruiting wise, and has been in the program before.
If Jimbo says no, I turn to Herman. Ask what would it take for him come here and try to make it happen.
Herman says no. I turn towards Larry Fedora. Proven winner at two schools. Took UNC to the ACC Title.
For some unknown Reason Fedora declines, Dan the Man Mullin will be the next LSU coach.
Unless these 4 all decline, Orgeron staying doesn't cross my mind. I offer him a nice bonus, up his salary and tell him we would like him to stay. Orgeron pumpers will have long forgotten about this when they start winning next year.
Joe already knows who the next head coach will be. They have been working on things since miles was gone. They should be finalizing things up this week and within 3 days after A&M, we will know who the new HC will be

Agree but would put Chip Kelly between Herman and Fedora
Also would strongly consider Herman 1 and Jimbo 2

Who knows how long their list is and in what order. They may have people on there we've never even considered.

If he won't come then just give it to O and insist that he hires a phenomenal OC.
I don't see anything exciting about Jimbo. The same people who were bashing Miles for only winning one NC are the same ones for praising Jimbo for winning one. No thanks.

Even then I'd take chances on Fleck, Mike MacIntyre, and take a look at Gundy before offering O.

If I was Alleva I would target Herman or Fisher, and if they said no, I would make damn sure the next OC Orgeron would hire was a can't miss like Kiffin, Briles, Applewhite

1. Herman- means that we will keep Aranda more than likely. If Texas comes have a clause that any Texas school coming to poach Tom Herman has to pay an ungodly amount of money to do that.

1) Put together a short list (Herman, Jimbo, wildcard)
2) Pro/con the 3/4 candidates throughout the season
3) Pick your guy and get him to BR. You don't take no for an answer. You do whatever it takes to get him here
