Not only in LSU history but name a better Freshmen season at DB in college football history.

There are few, if any, better CB seasons in CFB history, regardless of age.

The whole ‘17 defense had tons of what ifs. Toliver, Tyler Taylor, Kristian Fulton suspended, could’ve had Valentine, fat Arden Key, Fehoko sitting out, Andre Anthony injured.

Still can’t believe how bad state kicked our arse

Jontre Kirkland

Mannie Netherly

WRs converted to DBs to beat "Reigning National Champs" UCF in the bowl game and snap their winning streak

Funniest part of ‘17 is that Kirklin was in the DB room and Jacoby Stephens was playing offense

Different roles/ positions, but I think Mark Roman, Laron and Tyrann have arguments here.

Sting probably had the best pure CB freshman season though.

Halfway through page 2 and no mention of Eric Reid… shame

(Mainly a Cooper guy, but still overlapped a year with CR)

He has quietly developed into a great pro corner as well

He had one of the best in game INTs I've ever seen. I think it was against the aggies. I'm sure someone has the gif somewhere

The only bad marks he had the entire season to my recollection were the muffed punt against AU and the couple of times he got burned by Smith at Bama. And I would put the Bama plays on coaching as much as they were on him.

Other than those 3 plays he had as close to a flawless season at CB as you could expect

I really wanted dude to stick around to see what Raymond could do with him as a CB (or even a safety, he had good size).

I think he went into the portal, never got another D1 offer, and was listed as a cautionary tale in one of those "there's 10,000 players in the portal" type articles.
