1) Staff stays the same- We keep Aranda at least until the end of his contract. We have the second best staff in the sec besides Bama.

2) We keep a strong hold on the state. O is a hell of a recruiter and between him Steve, Craig, and the rest of the guys I'm positive that we keep the majority of the guys in Louisiana.

3) Minimal recruiting damage done this year. We would suffer much less damage on this years class assuming we keep the staff the same

I honestly don't see the problem with O. He is working with wayyyy more talent here and better paid assistants. If he lets his position coaches coach then we will be fine. A good head coach delegates duties. Just look at Kevin Steele. He got fired from Clemson. Had a pretty good year with us and now has a pretty stingy defense with Auburn. Coaches do change. It has been over a decade since O was at Ole Miss. he has learned alot.
I have no problem with him getting the job assuming we finish 8-0 or 7-1 with a close loss to Bama.

With the way they played Saturday they will have a chance to beat everyone left. I think what ultimately costs us is the inability to throw the deep ball. To beat Bama we will need a Home run ball or two and Idk if Danny is capable of making the throws deep down the field

well 7-1 I am not coming up with who the 1 will be?

Does the whole team get the flu early November?

I don't disagree. But for your own personal well being, I wouldn't bank on 8-0 or 7-1 based on a game vs lowly Mizzou.

UF, OM, aTm and Bama are all better on both sides of the ball, by a pretty wide margin.

I love me some Oh Oh, but let's ride this thing out for another couple months and go from there.

He is the only coach trying out! All others will interview.

If he wins SEC he's in. If he don't he won't.

Possible exception beat Bama, win West, loose close SEC champ game.

Wait, so we beat a bad Mizzou team and all of a sudden we are unbeatable?

I love O, but LSU giving him the HC job would be a bush league 1990's LSU move.

LSU has become a top tier program and needs to act like it. None of this cheap local guy stuff. Go after a top tier coach that sees the potential here and pay the man.

Damn straight. Act like an elite program before you become an also ran. LSU has everything going for it. You target your top man and you don't leave until the contract is signed.

Also, what makes anyone think Aranda would stay on as DC?

Unless they manage to land Herman or Fisher, it should be Coach O. Anybody else on their list would be an insult to him.

What O and staff are doing is the right formula for success. Austin as a GM role and shorter more up tempo practices. This is an NFL model used by Pete Carroll and jimmy Johnson. Plus we keep a solid revruiting class which is huge because we lose a lot of key players. Bring a high profile OC in and imo Lsu is right where we need to be to start contending.

Preserving the player development and recruiting should be the priority. Currently LSU is developing and putting more players in the NFL than any other school in the country. The goal is to improve the on field coaching and have that catch up to the parts that are working. We have caught up on defense with Aranda. Getting a strong OC can really fix the offense. Dont need a coach to try to reinvent the recruiting and development because its working. Need humble coach that lets on field coaches do their job.

He needs to be searching for some excellent assistant position coaches to fill out his staff like with PJ .. If he can find some with head coaching experience the sky is the limit

Can we not let the guy win a few games first? Is that too much to ask?

You mean like Dylan Moses?

Keeping O would be a terrible mistake IMO.

That was the only deficiency last week- inability to hit one of those long balls...Etling has got to work on his timing with the receivers on deep routes. That may be the one area where Harris has the upper hand on Etling...
