I do not believe you. The board of supervisors are not stupid enough to not have ducks lined up on another option if Lane doesn't work out. These aren't some randoms from off the street, they are prominent businessmen who run companies in the billions.

Make no mistake, LSU has other options lined up in case, they just aren't leaking them at all, just like Kelly wasn't leaked until Riley wasn't coming last time.

I'm not saying these are valid reasons, but a few might be:

-He was a risk for ND at the time.
-A 2nd former ND coach.
-Currently relying on a generational RB.
-ND lost their two toughest games this year
