Why wait another year? Is it the AD waiting for the buyout to drop after next year?

The buyout difference is about $5M, maybe a little more difference but they are about to have to blowout the entire offesnive staff and have to overpay for a new one because no one wants to come OC for a lame duck unless they are going to get rich doing it.

The AD also does not know how to hire a FB coach (his specialty is basketball) and he has openly made enemies with Sexton, so many of his clients won't even talk to the school now.

The AD is also arrogantly tied his wagon to Pittman, so much so that the school is basically just thumbing it's nose at the fanbase at this point.

The Board of Trustees are also pretty toothless and scared of "optics" of burning through coaches every 3-4 yrs.

Overall, the big time boosters are actually too rich to actually care that much about the program and the admin is too arrogant and egotistical to actually bend to the will of the fans and admit they were wrong.

The high ups despised Petrino because he didn't kiss their arse and told tjem to fuk off but they are happier now with 4 wins and a basement program but the head coach kisses pumps plenty of sunshine up their asses.

It's a complete shitshow and has been really ever since Frank retired. He was a lot of things and he ran off a lot of coaches, but he did not tolerate losers and apathy.

Many Arkansas fans have or will ignore football in the future.

Waste of time and money for the fans.

I mentioned in another thread that they were going to wait until his overall record dips below 500 (not counting the 2020 Covid season), which if I remember was 20-17 prior to this game. So, now he is 20-18, so they will fire him next year when he starts 1-4 and will be 21-22.

I think the buy out is 20m now, and if Pittman is below 500 like I mentioned above they can slash 50% off of his buyout, which is why I think they wait. Now, if Jerry Jones or some boosters cut a check, then he gone!

The AD said the team celebrated when they announced he was being retained

This is normal.

Hell, Badger players were pissed when Chryst got fired.

If they liked him so much they should have played harder.

Now would be the time to make a play for Fritz. I know he said he wants to retire there after almost leaving for GT last year, but he basically just got told to frick off by his administration. He made a recommendation for the new AD and they disregarded it and chose someone else. Considering that he runs their most successful program, you would think the administration would listen to what the man has to say.

Don't take a bullshite article by a Tulane bashing writer as gospel. The people who made the decision are the same people who were instrumental in hiring and retaining Willie.

You're a cold hearted person and Brian Kelly's not even a good coach. He's overrated and you'll see the truth soon.

Arky retaining Pittman reminded me of when slapdick retained Les Miles at LSU after that A&M game. Everyone knew it was time to move on, but the AD was too chickenshit to pull the trigger.

He won the SEC West in his first season with a depleted roster.

Maybe go back to playing Pokemon Go.

Drinkwitz isn't getting fired this year. His seat was warm. Sam Pittman is in the same situation. He fired his OC and now gets another year to fix the offense and get the team back to making to a bowl game.

Fixing the situation is more than just getting a new OC. Lots of dissension in the locker room, poor coaching, poor planning and a lack of teaching.

We will have a near clean slate on the offensive side of the ball with the only returning coach being the head of the absolutely worst unit, the OL coach. And, that is only because it’s Sam’s buddy. How can a Head coach justify keeping the assistant of the most dogshit part of our team? That gives u a peak at why so much dissension, Pittman plays favorites instead of winners. The underclassmen see this and as a result we are about to be wiped out by the portal.

He successfully used the NIL boogeyman as his excuse this year. But anyone with a brain can see the problems go well beyond nil. The team is poorly coached and undisciplined. That will not change.

Arkansas has one of the worst OL in the nation.

It is rare to find any good OL in the portal. Those are the toughest positions of development.

They won't have an OL next year but with newer faces. They don't have any WRS that can get open. They will break in a new QB and and new OC.

All these problems won't be corrected in one season.

Year 4 and hasn’t developed an OL worth a damn. It’s either a deficiency in identifying talent or developing talent. Same thing with the WRs. Where are these young guys we keep hearing about? If they are so great then why have all of our starters been from the portal? Identifying talent and developing talent are both sorely lacking.

Keeping Pittman doesn’t solve either of those things.

His defense sure didn't but his HC experience did.

Briles leaving and hiring Enos didn't help.
