I have lived though a lot of coaching changes at LSU and three have worked out, two to most of you. (Saban, Miles, Arnsberger) the rest were diasters. Hence, most of the coaching changes at LSU football in last thirty years have been bad moves. This administration doesnt really seem to be much if any better than the prior ones.

Bo Rein Ohio State 1980 1980 - 0 0 0 0 n/a
Jerry Stovall LSU 1980 1983 4 45 22 21 2 0.511
Bill Arnsparger Miami University 1984 1986 3 36 26 8 2 0.750
Mike Archer Miami 1987 1990 4 46 27 18 1 0.598
Curley Hallman Texas A&M 1991 1994 4 44 16 28 0 0.364
Gerry DiNardo Notre Dame 1995 1999 5 58 33 24 1 0.578
Hal Hunter Northwestern 1999 1999 - 1 1 0 0 1.000
Nick Saban Kent State 2000 2004 5 64 48 16 0 0.750
Les Miles Michigan 2005 Present 6 79 62 17 0 0.785

I really wanted Miles to stay.

At this point, i believe he is leaving. Thus, I have allowed myself to get excited about a new coach.

I want to be really excited about our new coach...Let's see what happens

Take the years of wisdom and rethink your process.

LSU used to pay coaches rock bottom and had terrible facilities.

There is a balance of looking to the past and the future. Don't let one define your thought.

I'm over 40, and Les can hit the road as far as I'm concerned. The simple fact that he is going to MI to discuss the open position tells me he can go. If I was the GM, I'd fire him as soon as he returns, even if he turns down the MI job.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane. If Les leaves, I believe the thought that a big name coach will come to LSU might not pan out. When Saban left we thought the big name would come. Did not happen. Look at Auburn. Gene Chizik???
5-24 at Iowa State. This board will go into meltdown if that happened here. I know Gene is playing for a title tonight, but cha-ching....

I was thinking today that LSU has had the best 10 year run in perhaps ever and we can't keep a coach. Maybe that is the norm these days. Win a lot and leave, loose a lot and be asked to leave.
I want Les to stay and retire here as the winningest corch ever but if he leaves, we will still be LSU.

GM... uh, General Motors? No GM in college ball. I'm being a jerk, I know you mean AD, but either way I still disagree. Am over 60 and I want Les Miles to stay put.

Starting again with another coach blows. If Les leaves I will be very upset.
