Penn State candidates?

I have heard nothing about this search since the early Dan Mullen rumors. Anyone know who they are considering at this point?

I would think they will have to settle for some MAC coach or something along those lines. I don't know who would want to deal with that dumpster fire, even with the money and prestige. I have no idea who the up and comers are in that region of the football country. Is Golden from Miami officially off the table?

Recruiting there for the next several years is going to be a really tough sell. They'd be better served to just accept it and get a guy who can really coach them up IMO. I imagine that's what they have in mind with the Harvard coach.

Their problem is they won't pay market value. I think the Harvard coach will get it, because he is a safe hire and cheap, which is what they need right now.

They have been filling their coffers for quite some time. Not sure if they will use their money on this coach or the next.

I think they have to go the route of up and comer. It may turn out to be the best hire anyone makes this year, who knows. The Harvard coach or someone like Dave Doeren from NIU. A coach from a stable major program seems like a longshot.

Not really, lots of talent in state, did you see how they reacted to Paterno getting fired?

They've had at least 3 or 4 decommit already, several others start taking visits and several other guys, including a big time DE (Noah Spence), move them from favorite to not being considered.
If you're from Pennsylvania and not quite good enough for Ohio State or Michigan, I don't understand why you'd go there instead of a school like Michigan State or West Virginia.
They will recruit well again eventually because they're in a good area but for the short term it will be harder than it was before. No high school kid wants a part of that shite and with good reason

Frankly I think Pittsburgh will do very well off this, especially with the move to the ACC.

I'd love to see Penn State hire Mark Richt. Penn State is likely to go into a nose dive if they don't get a really good coach, a good recruiter, and one that can restore integrity to their program. No one else fills those needs any better than Richt. This is a big deal hire for Penn State. I hope they get it right.
