Paul Chryst as Captain Kirk's OC?

-- SOURCES SAY: My belief right now is that Paul Chryst is still Kirk Ferentz's preferred next offensive coordinator. There will be a couple other external candidates that will be looked at. The more I talk to sources, the more it's apparent to me that the majority of people within the program would welcome Chryst with open arms. I'd also say that he's the overwhelming favorite of the realistic candidates. There are hurdles that would need to be crossed, but there are plenty of people within Iowa's program that want Chryst.
I called this months ago as Ferentz and Chryst have the same antiquated outlook in expecting the defense to stop everyone and sit on the ball on offense.

Wouldn't be an inspired hire at all, but Chryst couldn't possibly make the offense worse than it has been, could he?

Being an Iowa fan has to be miserable.

It might be a bit better but not a huge change.
And PC doesn't like recruiting, so that wouldn't get a big bump either.

Nah. They beat the university of minnesota golden gophers and actually score against Pennsylvania st and michigan with chryst. Significant upgrade.

Can’t get worse than the 130th rank offense out of 130 teams. Only way to go but up

Wisconsin was 66th and 64th in OF+ his last 2 full seasons as HC there.
Not inspiring but it's a major upgrade over Brian Ferentz.
Wisconsin was 9th in OF+ in 2019.
If Chryst ever puts an offense that efficient together at Iowa they might win a national championship

Jonathan Taylor isn't walking through that door.
Even with that rating, we couldn't pass for shite in 2019.
