I didn’t call you stupid, I called the article you are vaguely referring to stupid. You just happened to be the person who posted it

Do you think Replacing a legendary coach with a lb coach that was never even a coordinator as a bit odd?

Not really. It’s been the established plan for over a year, it just came a year early because the team with 4-13. It’s not like we’re fresh off a playoff run change was coming, that’s been obvious since September. There’s no conspiracy. Mayo stopped interviewing with other teams after getting the coach in waiting title from the pats.

I didn’t say it’s a conspiracy. In fact I could care less who they hire.

Kraft getting rid of BB due to some “diversity reasons” or whatever the article is claiming instead of due to the very clear lack of results the last few seasons, is by definition a conspiracy

Mayo has been in that building for the last 15 years. it’s not some crazy thought that he would be the successor. Especially when they put it in writing over a year ago. The premise is completely ridiculous. BB is the one who drafted, coached, hired, and groomed Mayo for the position over that same time span. It’s extremely clear why the pats like Mayo and wanted him as the successor and it has nothing to do with Robert Krafts humanitarian projects

very odd hire

Should we state the obvious. This politically correct insanely ridiculous America we live in. Not the best coach, but the fair coach.

Did you feel this way when the dolphins hired Mike McDaniel or the Texans hired Demeco Ryans? How about Sean McVay a few years ago? All young rising coaches with no HC experience. If not feel free to explain the difference

Imagine if Mayo was white and the outrage without interviewing other candidates. It's no different than Saints having to interview when they had already decided on Allen.

Equity!!! Isn’t it great?

This was done solely for the purpose of skipping the hiring process and naming a successor quickly. Vrabel was probably on the wish list, but they would have had to go through a pool of candidates and several rounds of interviews.

Yea, that is alot of effort. Much easier to hire someone you have known for 3 years and who has less experience than any head coach ever to lead your multi-BILLION dollar organization.

Difference is all 3 of those guys had been successful coordinators for at least a short period of time. All were risky hires.

Mayo has never been a coordinator and also has never played or coached anywhere but the Patriots.

It’s a terrible hire from pretty much all angles. Maybe it’ll work out. Who knows.

Little known fact: Mayo was recruited to Tenn by Coach O.

You sure about that?

Mayo played for Chief, O was "coaching"/ making Hummer commercials at Ole Miss at the time.

He’s never been DC in title, but he’s been the patriots defacto DC since Patricia left. BB just likes fricking around with coaching titles.

Okay.

The obvious is why when anyone black is hired as a head coach you guys automatically cry about it and claim it to be about diversity and wokeness and not about their ability?

You morons said the same about DeMeco Ryans.

So, other teams were also showing legit interest in Mayo? And NE wraps up with the "coach in waiting" move so he doesn't slip away from them. But hiring from within...I don't know.
