Proven to be successful after three games LSU should have won?!

I think Herman would be good, but there's been all of the Texas talk lately. Jimbo would be good as well , but that ship may have sailed after last years debacle.

Yep. I think both of those coaches would do well here, unfortunately I just don't think we get the deal done with either of them.

Thoughts?

1. Coach O can recruit with the best of them. He'll be able to have a deep, talented roster.
2. Coach O must hire top-notch coordinators (we must always have elite coordinators).
3. Coach O would be (substantially) cheaper than big-name coaches leaving more money to pay for coordinators and staff.
4. We probably wouldn't have to give Coach O a lengthy contract as well.
5. Coach O has brought a resurgence of energy and excitement from all angles to the program.
6. If it didn't work out, his buyout wouldn't be too large and we'd be left with a heap of talent on the roster.

and this is where we're f'n up. WE've lowered the bar and are now willing to settle. It's bullshite. We got rid of Miles to get equal or less success? That make sense?

This post has nothing to do with Ole Miss and I never said he's a bad coach. He has grown a lot since being at Ole Miss. There's no doubt about that. I'm just saying that LSU shouldn't settle when they are who they are being that Top 5 job in the country. I'm pulling for O. I have no hard feelings towards him at all. If he gets the job then great! But, there's a reason USC didn't hire him and it'll be the same reason this time around if LSU doesn't hire him.

Well, since none of my post was supposed to be "fact", I just was just stating my own opinion.

We'll know Nov. 05 if he's the right man for the job.

He doesn't necessarily need to win, but if the team plays up to their potential, I think he's passed his audition.

Anybody that knows a lick about football totally understands why Les was fired when he was. Our DL coach took over and we are setting records on offense for Christs sake! Think about that for a minute.

So...winning 3 games as an interim coach is proving that you can mantain success?

Do you know that a HC's job is 12 months long and involves a shite ton more than coaching a few games?

This is ridiculous.

Oh I totally understand. I just wish it hadn't been the cluster frick that we ended up with. It was a huge black eye to our administration and the way they handle firings at that level.

Does it make more sense to hire Herman who doesn't have the mental make up to get his team ready to beat SMU? Or Jimbo who has top 3 recruiting classes and has the exact same record as LSU right now?

That would last one year tops, and then what?

That's why winning games this year is not top priority for hiring O, imo. He needs to be vetted like any candidate - and that means "show me your plan". Show me your OC list, your DC list, your plan for the future. Make him show the administration he can do the things we are unsure of - we know he can handle the media and fans and politics of La.

Dude, I'm on no coach's train. I want the admins to do a proper coaching search. Take emotions out of it.
Interview several coaches including O. Go into that with no bias towards any one candidate and then make a decision based on each candidates vision for the program, their full bodies of work through their respective coaching careers.

And don't make a decision based off of what our emotional fanbase wants. Can't stress that enough.
