I've gathered the opinions of some of the local sports talk hosts I know and/or work with and some people from around the country that we have interviewed in the past that cover college football and all of them think this is a great/excellent hire. Main reasons given:

- style fits Miles and our talent
- coaches qbs and that is a big need for lsu
- probably not using the job as a springboard to another job

Texas fans might disagree with you.

For some ranters, only Sean Payton or Bill Walsh would have sufficed.

I don't understand the hate for the guy. Of all the choices I have seen on here, this one makes the most sense. He has experience, he's been successful at a couple of different places, he even has NFL experience. I don't care what he did at Louisville. We didn't hire him as the head coach, and we're not asking him to clean up the thugs left over by Bobby Petrino.

UL fans pretty much think LSU is retarded for hiring him.

If a UL fan has an opinion about basketball, I'll listen them. If a UL fan has an opinion about football, I'll politely ignore them.

They also think Ron Cooper is a bad coach. If anyone has seen our db's play this year they would know thats not true.

ETA: Excluding Karnell Hatcher against Arky

This is a good hire for LSU. Don't listen to the UL fans.....he just didn't work out there as a head coach.

He is solid and will turn out better than your last head coach-to-OC.

yea I chuckled at the idiots who think cooper is a bad coach. Terrible HC? Probably, but he's a damn good DB coach.

i consider this a negative.

I'd rather have young, hungry assistants that want to move up. Turnover of the staff brings new ideas and approaches, that's good from time to time.
