Hopefully he’s smart enough robinow that he could torpedo his career quickly doing that.

Yep. Massive homerun.

Gilbert may have the option to bring in a co OC as well.

Will you tell me more about Gilbert?

39 years old, Was a Division II QB - strongly tied to Charlie Strong (his coach as a player, and boss at Texas). Spent a year under Briles in Houston - runs a version of Briles' "Power Spread" - or "Veer and Shoot", with the usual HUNH elements - probably not a full time play caller before 2016 (at Texas), so is rightly considered a QB coach/"co" OC prior to that. Unimpressive results in the W-L category (although the offense was reasonably productive, finishing 19th). Offense not particularly potent at scorig at Texas, despite the raw productivity, in 2016. (41 against Maryland, 56 against SJST, but the rest was pretty "meh".)

Has a lot of "1-year" stays, so take that FWIW. I can't find any significant data on what sort of recruiter he is.

It'd probably be worth it just for the Gilbert Grape references.

He runs what a lot of people call the Veer and Shoot. Fast paced, let’s athletes just run a few variations of “plays”, lots of RPO.

Obviously, I limit that to his first full time OC year at Texas. I just looked at USF's year and it is reasonably impressive - Strong doesn't know anything about offense, so it was Sterlin's show at both places - they went 10-2 and scored quite a bit - they broke 40 against SJST, Illinois, Temple, and rival UCF (in a loss). They broke 60 against East Carolina and beat Texas Tech in somewhat of a shootout in the Bham Bowl, 38-34.

I approve this, 100%.

Not that it matters, but for fricks sake, we're looking at a legitimate good, young and promising OC. And we have enough old dog veterans on staff (like yes, Ensminger) that Gilbert can continue to learn new nuances from.

Let's make this happen, LSU!

"Gilbert remarked on several offensive changes that could be made in order to pass to open up the run. Contrary to what our brains are used to for sure, but a welcome change. Thinks highly of Narcisse. Young man is really itching for an opportunity on the big stage."

Text from source.

God alleva make this happen.

EDIT: This conversation was apparently had in the "pre talk" stage. Not the interview.

Interesting to note.

Its possible Cale Gundy will be working alongside our OC should he choose to leave Okla.

Why would Gundy or Gilbert want to be CO-OCs? I would think Gilbert wouldn't want to share playcalling duties?
Would love to have both of them though
