We did speak with a well-connected Texas official who confirmed that Fisher was on UT’s radar in 2013 when the Longhorns decided to hire Charlie Strong. This person feels the interest in UT on Fisher’s behalf this time around could be a ploy by his camp to drive up the sticker price for LSU should it make an active run at hiring Fisher, but we’ve heard Fisher’s name mentioned as a candidate multiple times through different channels so it’s a situation we’ll continue to watch closely.

Understand that the coaches are in the driver's seat and their demands can get outrageous without what is perceived as other options. Imagine if there is no other option, or perceived option, Herman and Fisher can dictate Harbaugh money and there really isn't anything that could be done but to pay if you don't have the perceived other option.

On Fisher, I do believe he was vetted in 2013 but some stuff came back in his background that excluded him from consideration. No idea if it was personal or football - and trust me, I know how "holier than thou" UT can be about stuff - but I'd be surprised if he was a real candidate. Fenves (UT Prez) learned "foosball" from Powers (former UT prez) after all...(meaning neither know shite about it).
From the only site that I trust about UT stuff, he hasn't been mentioned at all.

Not a BAD choice, but he is not necessarily the BEST choice. Considering his conference I would expect him to be doing better than he is right now. I'm concerned Winston was the key to Fisher's success.
