When I think about getting Fuente as our OC, I feel as if I would be satisfied with the hire but also feel like we could have done better. I'm sure if we got him he could easily prove me wrong once the season starts. What would y'all think if we got him?

He is definitely an upgrade over Crowton, I just think there would be a huge "What if" if we got him, but that could be the case with anyone... Thoughts?

eta: Found this interesting interview with Fuente and Dalton... sorry if Germans

From all reports, Fuente would be the ideal candidate. His offensive philosophy, while very in-line with Miles', is also more aggressive and innovative than what we're accustomed to. He's young, but well credentialed. I'll be very excited if he's the guy.

my biggest concern would be that he has never been OC before, just co-OC. May not be a big deal in the long run but its a concern to me right now.

This, along with lack of experience are probably the only things that I'm not fond of.

I think that the best scenario for LSU would be to hire that guy that is trying to make his name, but has been close to the position before, so he has an idea of how he wants to do it. TCU had done some good things offensively and I like the way this guy seems to think. If he is creative offensively, which I suspect he is, he'll make a name for himself in a couple of years.

I think you have to really look at a coach that had a good year with a senior quarterback.

he's been the one calling the plays since 09 at tcu so for all intents and purposes he's been THE oc (just not in title)

For me the only choice that would be better than Fuente would be a former Head Coach with strong offensive background. But wait...how long would the senior guy be happy as second banana, would he ever be happy as second banana, would he butt heads with Miles. Nevermind, I like Fuente best.

He was OC for three years at Illinois State.

As much input at Miles would have with the Offense, hes the perfect choice. instead of some old fart who would clash again with Miles. plus Miles knows the SEC

Yeah, I don't think we have to worry about his experience. Like you guys said above, he has been calling the plays the last two years at TCU and also was the OC at ISU. Also, Patterson has a defensive background so that shows that there is most likely little input from the head guy on the offense. I bet if you were to ask any offensive player from TCU they would consider Fuente their OC and the interview link above supports that as well b/c the other guy was not involved in the interview.

I think this would be a great hire, believe he will stay around for a few years and he is young. Don't know how great of a recruiter he is but at least he will give us some more ties for Texas especially the DFW metro area which seems that LSU has not recruited very well lately.

I liked watching how crisp the TCU offense looked with 2 and 3 star players

Id love to see how it would look with 4 and 5 star

Very good point, but how good & crisp would those 2 & 3 star players look playin against 4-5 star defenses in the SEC.

This is something I haven't seen anyone comment on, although we all know it's the truth.

He's been calling plays for the past two years at TCU. He's coached QB's and RB's throughout his career. College football is at a time when new coordinators are starting to assert themselves into big schools. I think he is a great choice.

Well, I just liked how it seemed TCU's offense had a purpose.. They knew what they wanted to do and they did it.

Not much confusion going on, and everyone seemed to be on the same page.

it scares me he is only 34...

I can call plays, but can I design and coach it?

Can I game plan?

Can I make half time adjustments?

Can I get my offense in one spring of practice?

I've seen people post bits and pieces of Fuentes experience. Does someone have a resume, or some sort of synopsis of career on him?
