Once we pull the trigger, let's get behind the guy and give him a chance.

We're not getting a big name. The cream of the crop is gone. Let's be positive going forward.

I’m good. It’s LSU. Not a internship.

Oh, Jones must be the guy. You’re a prophet. You would know.

All for that.

But they better first make sure the other coaches are in with the hire first. The positional coaches weren't on the same page as Pelini, and that translated to the field.

I'm not suggest (at all) that they tanked on purpose. I am stating that the communication and "trust factor" was not there and that led to a communication driven disaster on the field.

THEN we can talk about player buy in and trust/faith.

Early on, Spring Game or before. Peetz's offense should be allowed to test the defense. Nothing scripted, all out full contact. Best on best. Full game plan (a qtrs. worth). Full field. We have to know before Aug. if the new guy can get it done.

Again, the coaches need to see it too. I don't want to hear Orgeron talking up the next guy. I want to hear Faulk talking about how hard it is to coach against him. Or Peetz talk about he keeps him on his toes. I want to hear Boutte or TDP talk about how tough it is.

If we are not getting a big name or someone that is considered an up and coming and has shown it then I'm not getting behind anything until. If he gets the next journeyman or coach who has failed everywhere else then I'm not going to act like it's a great thing. This is just stupid that all the coaching staffs are filling out and LSU can't hire a DC.

Im not educated enough or in coaching circles to promote
or give an opinion on how good a coach will be .I like most on these boards use this venue to vent.NONE of us know
enough to voice a real knowlegable opinion .We just want to
think we do,which is why these boards exist.TD gives us
a chance to be part of the process.
Who ever O selects I personaly will give him the support
and if he fails so does O,which is what many on here want.
I will enjoy saturdays in the fall and hope for the best.

I 100% know enough football to know that hiring unknowns for big positions is a risky gamble. If this doesn't work we'll be shopping for a head coach for 2022.

Because Pelini didn’t want to put in the time
The assistants were working their asses off and he was scheduling his next tee time

How about they just get a high quality candidate and we can go from there.

I'm fine with any hire at this point in time. Ed Orgeron on the other hand better hope that this hire works out. Another .500 season and he'll probably be out.

That’s a sickening thought. I can not like O or the process that put him in place. But I can still support him as LSU’s head coach. Those do not have to be mutually exclusive.

Yeah, I didn't mean to imply that the reason they weren't on the same page is because of the position coaches. My intention was to outright state it was because of Bo.

But for the next guy, this can't happen again. The results won't be much different. It is going to be up to him to get Raymond and whomever he brings on board.

People forget, we only have 1 defensive coach on staff currently, and that's CCR. There's a reason he's still there. He's not irreplaceable, but we need him. And he and the FNGs have to work hand-in-glove if we want to get out of the triple digit pass defense ranking.

I’ll never understand how this was ok or tolerated. If I was on the defensive staff or a defensive player, I would have punched Bo in that big arse nose of his.

2017: Bengals are 16th in passing defense.

Jones shows up.

2018: Bengals 31st in passing defense.
2019: Bengals 21st in passing defense.

He is going to be asked to leave. Changes jobs.

2019: Vikings 15th in passing defense.

Jones shows up:

2020: 25th in passing defense.

What is there is be positive about?

What does “let’s get behind him” mean? Not complain about the hire on the internet? Just shut up until the season starts? What we say on here doesn’t mean a thing.

I doubt many, if any, on this board have forgotten this or are not aware of that fact. Maybe the general public, but not any devoted Tiger fan posting here.

lol, yes- you are right.

The point I was trying to make, poorly, was that we're not just hiring a DC. We're hiring almost an entire staff in it's essence with this one hire. Minus Raymond of course.

There's a lot of coaching that's going to derive from this one hire.
