re: Ole Miss and LSU spending the same amount of NIL money isn't really "the same"....

LSU being a national brand can attract better players from across the U.S. Ole Miss isn't a national brand and Oxford isn't exactly a hotspot for young athletes. LSU will use their money to shop at a better marketplace - Think Fresh Market. Ole Miss will use their money to shop at - Think Piggly Wiggly Perspective and comparitive opportunities, simply aren't the same.
That was a good start, but you didn’t close well.
Tie the marketability of the brand to how that benefits what the players want. They want money. They want to build their brand. NIL money is only part of their potential income. Social media follows attract more money.

If ole miss was going to consistently recruit similar to LSU in the NIL era, why do they struggle to even come remotely close?
I think that's what you are missing. Essentially, Ole Miss decided they AREN'T going to be able to consistently recruit HS players similar to LSU, Alabama, Georgia, Texas. So they have taken a different approach. They focus more in the "free agent" market. In the last 3 seasons their transfer classes have ranked in the top 4 each season. Their record (if they win Friday) in those 3 seasons will be 32-6. That is NOT happening in the prior era where schools were largely limited to HS recruiting.

You will see teams like this year and last year for ole miss - which have very good, elite level starters, but poor depth.
Does LSU have great depth?

Didn't LSU outspend Ole Miss in NIL this year? Its as much about who is evaluating the talent and then developing it. That's what you get in Kiffin.

Yes exactly and it’s not a good recipe for long term stability or depth.
He’s LSU actually does have good depth. I don’t think you understand how poorly coached this team actually is.

Maybe LSU needs to shop at the piggly wiggly some. Sure would’ve loved Chambliss. Although our dog shite coaching staff would’ve had him actually looking like D2 QB so maybe not.

If we go there can we get a giant tub of offensive linemen?
Yes but only once because when you return they’re either out of season or Costco R&D made their own and ruined the company that was supplying superior protection and support

Maybe...maybe not.
I don't think it is a coincidence that Ole Miss has had, consecutively, 3 of their best seasons in the past 6 decades over the last three years with availability of numerous transfers. That's some degree of stability. Then you look at a school like Indiana, who had virtually no success in its history. Yet, because of the transfer market, they have now become a successful Big 10 program.
The point is that LSU's recruiting advantage gap has closed to some degree because the Ole Miss's, Texas Tech's, Indiana's, etc now have another avenue to build rosters beyond just HS recruiting.

And they have nothing to show for it due to injuries and poor depth each of the last 2 years. This year is a team that’s really overachieving and isn’t going to have the top end to win it all.
Sure it has closed to an extent. But you can bet your arse that the power will always swing back to the blue bloods. A lot of this stuff is going to get reeled back in. Money is a huge issue in sports, and tv networks make more money when blue bloods are in the playoffs/national championship. Don’t think that’s not a factor. When they do reel things back in, blue bloods will separate once again.
Sexton knows this, lane knows this.
This is a temporary gap closure. Parity is good for the average fan, bad for the money makers.

Why hasn’t LSU attracted better players than Ole Miss. LSU’s 2025 portal class was a dud.

$$$$$ spend the same in Oxford......maybe just a bit more.
