Feeling around was apparently he was gone a few weeks ago according to McCready. Probably should have had an action plan in the event he left. Sounds very Alleva like.

No
So maybe not most, but 5 position coaches left with only 8 staying. Appears the ones Lane asked to come with him did.

That's after the offer of doubling their salary too. Not a great look.

Wondering if some grand “5d chess master” at OM thought they were going to stick it to LSU by delaying and delaying (which is a taught negotiation tactic) until Lane “just couldn’t walk away?

Then, when Lane was still leaving, OM got childish and played the old “if we can’t have him, nobody can” and tried to go scorched earth?

There was a post from a few weeks ago someone that actually called Golding as the hire. Said Golding was assembling possible staff in case this happened. Scary for them that this was the plan. But imagine it was all to keep this years playoff run going best as possible.

Well being that LSU was already in talks with LK weeks before Kelly was fired would be a good indicator.

With the exception of doubling all of the coaches salaries with what he was paying Kiffin. That was smart and will likely keep the offensive coaches.

My goodness. How can a person be so out of touch with reality about so damn much?

He really should have let Lane coach the playoffs.

It's like the scene in Jerry Maguire where Bob Sugar is taking all of Jerry's clients and all Jerry could salvage was Rod Tidwell.

Pete Golding is Rod Tidwell.

Golding leverages the situation with the AD. Pete first agreed to stay but only if he was THE head coach, not just an interim. Otherwise he was leaving too. Then he worked to recruit coaches to stay and figured out they would only do so if Ole Miss doubled their pay.

Everyone in the media is skewering Lane but Pete and the Ole Miss “loyalists” totally worked the situation. And kudos to them for doing so. Just don’t act like their “good guys”
