Best guy?

Before this season he was something like 11-15 as a head coach. He has missed most of the top half of the American conference this season to get to 10 wins.

Morris is pretty meh.

I like the Golesh hire. Wouldn't have been mad if he had ended up at LSU.

Morris…who has a losing season at North Texas and was 11-14 as a head coach going into this season. He has put up 10 wins this season but has avoided Memphis, Tulane, and ECU teams that are in the top half of the American standings. He did get Navy at home and beat them. Otherwise, his other 9 wins this season are against teams that are 10-25 in American play and Wazzu (5-6), Lamar (FCS), and South Alabama (4-7).

Whatever you think of Franklin, he’s a slam dunk of a hire considering how much VA Tech has fallen off over the last decade. He could be really good there and that fanbase will appreciate what he is.

I do not understand the obsession with him. He is an ABYSMAL game management head coach. He gave away a 3 score lead in the 2nd half at Memphis and then lost again when they had a last shot at an opening back into the playoff race this season.

He’s a good offensive mind. He will probably recruit well. But I don’t think he will cut it in the SEC and I’m really glad we didn’t have to consider him. The margins are really thin here now. Just add up LSU’s, Arkansas’ and Auburn’s one score losses to see that. You can’t get away with not being a good game manager as a head coach in this league.

Agreed. The key for Morris will be to hire a good DC. They guy knows QB’s.

I think Golesh is a high risk hire for Auburn. He will put a good offense on the field but Auburn has always had crazy expectations and their boosters will meddle with the coach. If I was Golesh I would have taken Arky.

It blows my mind that if they beat Tulane next week that North Texas will be in the playoffs.

It's a glorified community college overrun with liberal lesbians and soy boys.

Every coach is a gamble. There is no perfect coach. Golesh has head coaching experienc, ans I would have preferred that to elevating Blake Baker. That doesn’t mean I was obsessed with Golesh. Like everyone else, I had coaches I would have liked and others (Drinkwitz comes to mind) I didn’t want. Moot point now.

LOL. Coming from AZ and its whopping .559 historical winning percentage and no conference championships since 1993, that's funny.

I'm pleased with the hire. His history of finding and developing QBs bodes well.

They just moved up to the American right after he took over as HC in 2022.
Yes I say “moved up” bc it is a step up in competition from CSUA where UNT was a mid program.
