See added question at bottom

This shite is like telling your wife you are considering divorcing her but first you need to propose to 5 other women and see how that turns out.

ETA I was not fully up to date on the goings on.

frick. I hope we just close this OC loop

Added question.

What's in it for Canada to negotiate?

Shouldn't he just tell LSU to pound sand and pay him

Still negotiating his buyout. You don't announce until your done, regardless of the whiny message board grunts.

No. It is more like telling your wife you’re going to divorce her and then waiting on the lawyers to make it official with the paperwork. Because that is exactly what is happening right now with LSU and Canada.

If they fire without a negotiated buyout/settlement they are on the hook for the remainder of the contract.

How do people not understand this?

Unless you want another John Chavis situation, I highly suggest that you take a muscle relaxer and chill. Besides, the next hire holds the key to F.King, Alleva and Coach O's tenure at LSU so let's give them time to not frick up

Your analogy kinda sucks since divorces don't happen immediately either.

What's there to negotiate? Canada has a contract stating that if LSU fires him they still owe him $3.2 million dollars.

Pretty black and white to me.

You're right. Legally binding sports contracts are so simple.

Because he hasn’t been fired yet?
Because he might not be fired at all?
Because our future OC is still working?
Because we’re still negotiating with him?
Because we’re still negotiating with his replacement?
Because he’s a professional, and is still doing the job until the end?

Let's pretend they can't agree to buyout terms. Canada coming back?

Nope.

Schools ANNOUNCE coach firings ALL THE TIME before the buyout is settled

Did you even read the article on the front page of this site that said that they expect to finalize the settlement by the end of the weekend? Be careful when you throw out “retarded”.

Bc they wanted to wait until after the Aranda deal was over. Let everyone feel like the administration did something right. They think it will mitigate everyone’s reactions when O promotes Ensminger.

LSU must think they have something that they could fire Canada for cause. So in order to stay out of a legal battle get lawyers involved and cost Canada as much money if not more than his buy out, they are trying to settle. Pay him less and let him walk.

You mean you read about them from sports journalists with "sources" on twitter?

Was Austin Thomas to UT ever officially announced by the university?

Maybe waiting for Canada to find another job, so LSU can write the headline of mutual agreement to part ways.

Instead of just flat out saying his was fired because O got his feelings hurt.

it's frustrating but it's a recruiting dead period so it's not that big a deal as long as it gets done and our new guy is in by the 12th

Gotta get this one right. Too much hanging in the balance. Can’t make an emotional or knee jerk hire to pacify fans. Lots of thought needs to go into this one.
