Saban is the only legit pick of that list. Briles is happy at Baylor, Fisher has too much invested in Fl. St, he would be stupid to leave. I hate Texas as much as almost any team outside of So.Cal or Bama, but in the end, I think Saban will stay at Bama, and Texas will go with a surprise pick to replace Brown. One thing is for sure, Texas needs to move Brown now! Why wait another year??

He's not going anywhere with his buyout. Take that to the bank.

texas doesn't want briles anyway

75% of UT's recruiting is in the state of Texas but they still want to pull in a few out of state guys every year... Briles has never spent more than a week out of state in his entire life.

that pretty much has nothing to do with why they don't want Briles. See Gary Patterson's rant. Briles is a first class doosh but no one knows it because no one cares enough about Baylor.

I'm really not sure who they'll go after once the unrealistic list is sorted. Most schools end up hiring someone with ties but Mack has been there a while and has no coaching tree and the only decent coach that played for them that I can think of is Jerry Gray and he's never been a head coach. Tough to pinpoint someone like you could for USC or others.

the way it's shaping up, i can easily see them settling for Muschamp and promptly wanting Mack Brown back….

He needs to go but he'll never go willingly. He wants to emulate Paterno and Bowden that way.

Who thinks Miles spins another raise out of this shite? My money is on Shaw, Franklin, or Strong.

I've been told David Shaw is the #2 guy on the list if Saban doesn't take the job..

He wants to be forced out, after shielding paedophiles?

oh.. and this:

It looks very much like the Mack Brown era at Texas will end in 2013.

Sources intimate the target list includes Alabama coach Nick Saban, 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh and Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher. And don’t rule out Les Miles and Art Briles.

We’re told not to be fooled by leaked contract extensions and that the Longhorns are willing to wait until after late bowl games to get the right guy. Money will be no object.

If there’s a big buyout, Texas will pay it.

For a coaching change year that looked slow (only nine jobs open so far), the Texas job could make things very interesting. The Longhorns will hire a head coach. And that could create a ton of other movement. Alabama, FSU and LSU are great jobs. It’s going to be a very long and interesting month.

is Les trying to get a raise now?
