If Crowton leaves, can we get a list of who is available and what interest they might have or LSU might have in them in one post?

Jeff Jagodzinski - No current job, helped mentor Matt Ryan did a decent job as head coach at Boston College. Seems to cause friction wherever he goes though.

Steve Kragthorpe - Former head coach at Louisville. QB coach who led some potent offinsive teams at Tulsa.

Mark Mangino - Head Coach at Kansas, but is on the hot seat. OC for OU in 2000-2001. Won the Broyles Award at OU and built Kansas into a decent program.

Ralph Friedgen - Current head coach at Maryland, but is on the hot seat. Was a big name at OC at Georgia Tech.

Gus Malzahn - Currently at Auburn and may be in line for a head coaching job sometime soon. His offenses have done fairly well in the SEC. LSU can probably pay him more and he'd have more athletes to work with, but I don't know if he would actually come here.

Charlie Weis - Out at Notre Dame, but I think he goes back to the NFL as an OC. I guess it's a possibility, but I think he goes to Kansas City. Just putting his name here because it will be talked about so much.

Jedd Fisch - OC for Minn Golden Gophers. Has QB and WR coaching experience, most of his expereince is NFL. Was a grad assistant at Florida under Spurrier.

Dana Holgorsen - Houston's OC. Has QB coaching experience. Not sure if the offense is his or head coach Kevin Sumlin's offense.

Mark Whipple - Current OC at Miami. QB coaching experience, but not sure if he would leave UM or not.

Alex Van Pelt - An NFL guy, but may be out in Buffalo with the coaching change. Also a QB coach.

Paul Chryst - Don't know if there is any shot at this guy, but would Les look back to the Big X to bring in a like minded offensive guy?

Robert Anae - Had some big offenses without the major talent. Also O-line experience if Stud is gone.

Norm Chow - Long shot, but I've seen a few people bring him up on here. It is said that he's not happy at UCLA, but I think he says on the east coast.

Mike Bajakian - Central Michigan's OC

Neal Brown - Just another name to consider.

Major Applewhite - Just because I know it will be brought up.

David Lee - He got mentioned, so I'm throwing him in. QB coach for Miami. OC for Arkansas from 94-2000. Was also head coach for Rice for a while.

Thoughts on any of these? Anyone else to be added?

id like mangino, he had KU kicking some serious arse a couple years back. and jago runs a "pro-style" offense that would be a great sell to offensive recruits.

id be pumped if we got either one of those guys.

He is getting shite on for abusing players. Then you want him to put on LSU colors, go into a kid's house and say "I'm the guy you want in charge of your kid for 4 years."

That's not going to work too well.

So do other, and they can last through a preseason.

Not sure. He may have only worked with him and Brian Brunner, but Brunner did real well when LeFevour was out. That was just a name I threw in there just to consider.

Jason Phillips is in his seventh year at the University of Houston, continuing the upward arc of his career by adding the roles of co-offensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator to his previous position as wide receivers coach.

i know him personally, would be a phenomenal addition to the staff, but not as oc. should be hired as rb coach or wr coach. i agree with you re: recruiting.

Look through the above thread. Some are against the pro style offense.

Jago, ok by me.

Has anyone explained to me why we need to hire a guy who caused contention and been criticized for sloppiness everywhere he's gone? Not to mention the guy could cut it for a full preseason in the NFL

I havent read the coaching boards at all because it seems like every thread is the same shite over and over, but whats the general feeling, if any, about LSU goin after Weis for OC?

You really put a lot of work into this post.

I like Gus Malzahn

His rapid-fire, no huddle offense is in stark contrast to Crowton's plodding predictable machinations.

Yeah we only have room for one on the staff and it doesn't look like Les is going anywhere for another year.

Sadly. Good news, if ND scoops up Stoops then Brian Kelly will still be at Cinci.
