I will say this. I believe as of today Woodward pulls Riley. Woodward is steamed at the thought of OU getting involved and ruining this. Angry Woodward is no joke.

Woodward is all about misdirection. He expected this, He just wanted the deal done before OU got a chance to jump on it though.

I’m wondering the same thing and I can guarantee if there is any interest from Riley no one knows anything at OU. Would be be something he and his agent would keep quiet about unless it was put out there to get a raise at OU.

If it’s Riley, I’d rather everyone just keep their fricking mouth shut until it’s official. I’ve waited this long, I can wait longer not knowing anything if it means we get Riley.

I could see a scenario where a coach felt very loyal/grateful to a school, and while deciding to leave for financial reasons and other reasons, didn’t necessarily want to leave in the middle-of-the-night so to speak and leave the current school shell-shocked and scrambling for a new coach.
Not saying that’s what’s happening here, just saying it’s possible at some point he gives them a heads up that he’s leaving. Not necessarily to get a counter but to be professional about it and give them time to go about searching for a new coach.
From all I’ve seen and read about Riley, this would fit with what I know about him…he’s going to be professional in his departure from OU.

IF Riley is the target, and IF Woodward is concerned about the “chatter” derailing a potential deal, I would expect to see a diversion/smokescreen in the next couple days, maybe even today?…would be super easy. Just float some BS Franklin/Fleck/MStoops/etc story
If we don’t see that, then either:
1) Riley isn’t the target OR
2) Woodward isn’t concerned with the chatter derailing the deal (in other words, he knows it’s effectively done and that the reasons are more than financial)
