Whoever gets the Bama job will be get the keys to a well oiled machine and probably win a NC.

But the first game where things go off script (see Tenner at LSU MNF 2005) the fan base will be divided on post Nick coach.

And it will be glorious to watch the melt.

Yeh frick taking that job if you are already established at a p5 school. UGA week 1 following a legend?

Float your name to get a raise but no way on earth does it make sense to leave an established gig for bama

Milroe can't consistently make presnap & postsnap reads. He was wildly inaccurate at times. Their offensive line sucked at pass pro in 2023. They don't have the dynamic WRs they had just a few years ago.

So no, Bama is not a well oiled machine & whoever takes the job has some serious work to do. Not to mention with Saban retiring & the portal now open for that roster, Bama could lose some serious talent off that current roster.

Not trolling either & not wishcasting.
They have an in-state rival on the upswing in Auburn. Nobody in a stable spot wants that job.

The playoff field is expanding, the portal is here to stay, NIL is wild, and NCAA is going through realignment.

I don’t share your optimism.
ETA: well, optimism from a Bama POV anyway

That machine can break down quick.

People have shorter memories than ever before, and kids care way less about past program prestige than ever before.

If they get the wrong guy in there and he’s not in the playoff in the first 2 seasons, all that mystic goes away. At least with 17-18 year old kids.

The Bama brand is not what got kids coming there in droves. It was playing for the GOAT. That’s what made them a machine.

That, is now over.

The machine was already leaking oil the last few seasons even with Saban at the helm. In terms of Bama expectations, the wrong hire can cause it throw a rod.
