No one knows the actual number that was negotiated, but Les is making somewhere in the neighborhood of $150K a month to watch his kids play ball and occasionally call a game. All he has to do for the next year or so is feign interest in getting a job. He won a natty and held an 80% win pct in the toughest division in CFB for a decade, all with no major violations.

The day Les Miles decides he wants a job is the day he will be offered a job, likely at a Big 10 school. Anyone who says otherwise is trolling or is a bitter LSU fan like OP.

That's why fans wanted to get rid of him; we saw a lot of that on these boards last year. Y'all put that label on him, and apparently it's stuck.

Look at the records, year by year. Look at the play calling from 2007 and compare it to 2016. He lost his nerve and changed philosophies. When the AD told him to open up the offense, "or else," Les called the bluff and continued running Leonard Fournette into a brick wall.

Les was a good coach when he was hungry. Once he had made it, he lost his edge and the record shows it. Ever notice how he wears that natty ring around everywhere? He rested on his laurels years ago.

Additionally, you seriously have issues, about Les Miles for some reason but in general as well.

You should see him on the poli board. Dude is a psycho.

Ok, this makes more sense; didn't realize he was still being paid by LSU.

That's a fair assessment.

He definitely wasn't the "Mad Hatter" during his past 5 years or so.

When he "interviewed" He told them how they would have to pay him and his staff in golden boulders. The totals he was looking at costing them made the AD's suffer from shrinkage.

This is akin to walking into a McD's and telling them that you and your boys want a job. The boys get $125/hr and you get $1000. This is why he was not hired and kept on the LSU dole.

I disagree. I think if Mullen leaves, Les would be a great fit for MSU. I don't like Les as a coach, but he would certainly make them interesting. The only question is does he want to coach another SEC team at his age. He may not want to spend these years in that situation.

He's purposefully tanking those interviews for that exact reason

Les is retired fellas. But he's gotta play along to cash out

Les Miles wouldn't be a good fit a MSU. And how in the world would he make them "interesting"? Oh yeah, he'd introduce the toss dive to them. MSU is interesting now because Mullen has brought in a lot of talent and is an innovative play caller. There's nothing about a CLM offense that would be interesting at MSU.

IMHO, I don't think he would want to coach in the SEC. In fact, I'm not sure he even wants to coach again anywhere. He appears to be reaching the end of his career. I still think he'd be best served going to a broadcast job.

Nope, I think Tigertaff's right on this one. I thought CLM had learned when we did a bunch of things differently on offense for the TTU bowl game. Unfortunatley, once the regular season came around we found he he was still stubbornly sticking to his guns and doing things the way HE wanted to. I'm sure he'd tell any prospective employers that he'd changed his offensive philosophy, but once practices started he'd revert back to what he's comfortable doing.......

Maybe you only learn from your mistakes once you're fired. Hey, that line worked for Orgeron. Why can't it be applied to other coaches?

Good post.

I think he had been here long enough to contract a bad case of Louisiana Apathy.
