No way a deal like this happens overnight

To all of those saying Woodward was panicking, no way a deal happens like this over a night or 2. This deal was in the makings for awhile. Regardless of what you think, Kelly is a high profile coach that has been at ND for 11 years. I don’t know if he was first choice, but I speculate this deal has been done for awhile. Woodward ran a tight ship.

This is what I have been saying. Everybody needed to relax, and let things work it’s way out. I knew for a fact we weren’t panicking, yet so many LSU fans were convinced LSU was fricked less than 24 hours ago. How do y’all feel now? Must be the guys who are screaming that Kelly sucks.

Remember that interview a few weeks ago where Kelly insisted that Freeman would be the next ND head coach? He knew back then he was leaving. It's all been arranged.

I'm starting to think Kelly was always Scott's whale, maybe not ours, but I'm feeling like he was zeroed in on BK since day one of the search.

I hope he releases information about how long these discussions with Kelly have gone on so he can troll the CCB lol!

Face it! This is what reliable sources are saying, Kelly reached out to Woodward when O first got fired. Woodward had his guy in Reily. Reily declined, Woodward scrambled and went to boosters to get the money for Kelly and gave him an offer he couldn’t refuse. There’s your hire!

You are exactly right. The only way ND got Freeman was to add title of coach in waiting. I believe Woodward has had this in the works for a long long time. Nothing against O he just wanted his guy at the helm. I wouldn’t be surprised if one of Kelly staff members will be a head coach in waiting at LSU.

Walker Howard makes a trip to south bend in October to visit Kelly and Notre dame.. coincidence? I think not!! Woodward had this wrapped up from the start and was just damn good at keeping it a secret
