The only reason Schiano turned it down is because he's waiting for JoePa to kick it.

one thing about Kelly is that he runs a wide open spread offense.. lots of screens and option reads.. Michigan is too stubborn to try something new

As far as Ferentz goes,Unlike the SEC a Head Coach from one Big Ten team has NEVER gone on to coach at another Big Ten school.

I don't think Michigan wants to be the first.

Maybe they are just CHEAP. Don't want to pay coaches.

I know an Iowa fan that would be sick if their coach left. Why do they like this guy so much? It's not like Feretz has done much of anything lately.

And with Illinois becoming better I don't think it will help Iowa's recruiting.

Michigan is a good place to coach so are a lot of other schools. It is not like it used to be. More schools gain attention, more schools have coching jobs that are lucrative. This thing is very competitive now. Not sure if this is good or not but hey its the market forces in play right! Cannot control that.

Ferentz is highly overpaid for two seasons that Iowa was mediocre.

Or maybe the only people who don't realize that the Big 10 sucks and is a terrible conference to coach in are the people in the Big 10!?

I think that could hammper some guy's as well....times have changed in college football and alot of these younger coaches have latched onto the change and like it.

Does Mich. allow this new coach to come in to start running this wide open type of "O"???

Heck I'm loving the fact that (2) Div 1-A teams are standing the the corner scratching their nuts because no one wants to coach at their schools!

Michigan is a more prestigious job then LSU is... why do you think guys like Urban Meyer, Les Miles, and other coaches have outs in their contracts to coach there?

His overall coaching has been average at best with the exception of a few good years.

Got to think Iowa is getting sick of paying the highest amount for a coach with these kinds of results. Ferentz laughing all the way to the bank.

Then why is miles not there? Why is Meyer not there (who turned down ND also)?

2 things have changed in the past 30 years kids. Your conference used to have prestige and you used to have an economy.

Partly due to the internet, and these forums, the truth regarding these supposedly "great" traditional football programs is being exposed. Consider how less respected the SEC was just 10, even 5, years ago.

With a victorious title game, LSU will start be recognized as a Dynasty. Some people will argue, laugh at that statement. But it's the (new) way things are now. LSU is King Kong in football now.

Then why are they not going there??? Mich Alumni are convinced that it is the old politics of Martin and Carr that is creating the problem--

I bet it would be easier for Notre Dame to find a new coach-
