so your argument is that we need to target a guy that we have much less than 100% confidence in that they can come in here and turn this program around immediately.

you can't be scared of success. you have to fight for it.

Just because he worked for Saban doesn't mean he is exactly like Saban. He isn't a star gazer and has said so repeatedly. That won't fly at LSU

eta: not even sure what this means? He's not worth more? YOu think we're getting lane for less than that? What are you saying?

It means if we're going to pay that much, we could just go after Lane or Lanning instead.

Also, why is it assumed that he would pick us if he really felt like leaving his situation at IU? Penn State has money, too, and he's from that part of the country.

And as impressive as the Oregon win was, that's the only big win he has so far at this level. I really like Cignetti, but if we're going to scrutinize every other candidate's record, we should do it for him.

Cignetti is better. And most likely Lane is using us to troll, contract leverage, and be able to tell everyone he shite on LSU.

buyout could be upwards of 3x's more after the nike stock.

We are an SEC powerhouse. We should not be afraid to make Cignetti our prime target then go from there. I rather get a no thank you from Cignetti than a frick you from lane.

Yes, that's your opinion.

I feel like you're just making this up in your head to help justify your opinion.

Nick Saban wasn’t Nick Saban yet either dummie. Matter fact Dinardo had whipped his arse in a bowl game.

And yet a few years later he had MI St as a Top 10 program and LSU had was falling apart again. I remember having this exact conversation with one of my best friends (RIP) in Murphy's(or Empire) after the debacle loss to AL that sealed Dinardo's fate.

My friend was complaining how come we can't get a coach like Saban . . . and the rest is history.

typical LSU fan mentality

"10 years and $95 million dollars is a stupid contract"

"why can't we pay more than Indiana's deal with Cignetti (8 years $94 million)"

Cignetti has a $15 million buyout that he owes Indiana if he leaves to coach at another school. I don’t think LSU is going to pay that buyout on top of an over $11 million per year salary.

Guess I missed where you mentioned the $15 million buyout previously in this thread.

So, you think LSU will commit to spending close to $30 million (buyout plus salary) on Cignetti in the first year?
