This isn’t new, though. They hang tough against good programs, but have puzzling losses to ‘inferior’ programs during his tenure, too. Nebraska fans are done with the “moral victories” — there have been too many. At some point, you need to get in the win column.
I agree, but they very much have the feel of a program where the "dam" could break in their favor any year now. Frustrating for fans, but they could easily be a team next year that's like Michigan State this year if those close games go their way.
But they totally have had that same feel for a few years now.

Idiotic decision. He is the worst coach in Nebraska history and the morons in charge keep him.

They are probably the best 3-7 team in the nation. As someone mentioned earlier, they have lost a lot of close games.
Nebraska has lost a lot of close games the entire time Frost has been there, so them continuing to be competitive isn't indicative of a team about to turn a corner.
It has been 4 seasons of habitually shooting themselves in the foot. Whether it be against bad teams they should handle, or good teams where they choke away signature win opportunities. There really hasn't been visible progress.
I was fairly confident after they blew the Michigan game that Frost was going to be fired, but I think Alberts understands it's a bad year for Nebraska to jump on the coaching carousel now with some of the other openings out there.

I mean, Mike Riley inherited a team Bo fricking Pelini had at 9/10 wins every season and left it as a 4-8 squad.

Dude has the worst record in Nebraska history.

Not exactly true. Bill Jennings had a worse record.

Martinez will finally be gone so he can start someone better
Incredible that not wanting to rock the boat with Martinez was the biggest reason he passed on Burrow

Can fire him after 3-4 games next year if things aren't going well and be first in line rather than trying to hire after USC, LSU, and potentially Florida.

Bill Callahan was pretty terrible at Nebraska.

One of the worst hires in CFB history. As a Raiders fan, my mind was completely blown when it happened.

No point in them firing him just yet. Many of their losses have been close. Too many big dogs hunting for a coach. If he shits up next season, show him the door

Nebraska is now a job to get to the next job. Frost is one of the few that sees it as a destination, so might as well give him one more year.
this is exactly why nebraska needs frost to right the ship, and exactly why he should be given one more year.

Scott Frost has fired OC Matt Lubick, OL coach Greg Austin, QB coach Mario Verduzco, and RB coach Ryan Held.

How often is it that no big teams are looking for a coach? Next year might be UF, Texas, Washington and Stanford. It’s really hard to time it right, especially when you’re lowly Nebraska

I like when Nebraska is good so i support this move. Reminds me of Mark Stoops almost getting fired a few times but UK stuck with him and he turned the corner.
We have to get out of this firing coaches every 2-3 years if they dont win 10 games. Let them build a culture and see where it goes

I honestly believe that if he can land a QB transfer and get rid of Martinez, he will benefit and it’ll show in the win column.
