Cornhusker Red,
How are you going to come to the forum/website of another team's fanbase and talk so much shite about that team going downhill when your team is at the bottom of that proverbial hill?

Just shut up and rub one out to your thoughts of Pelini being your head coach.

Personally, I think Paul Johnson is who NU should be going after with full force and center stage. That guy could build Nebraska back to being a major player, yearly, in the Big 12. Will anybody ever be able to build Nebraska back to being the program they were in the early '70s, under Devaney, and the mid '90s under Osborne? No. Is that situation unique to Nebraska? No.

So while the "we know Bo..." warm & fuzzy feelings might seem good, without a study of the guy's record, achievements and shortcomings as a defensive coordinator, combined with a convenient forgetfulness or lack of remembering his one year as DC at Nebraska (didn't his defense get steamrolled by K State that year?), where's the proof that he'll be a good HC? He has plainly state he doesn't like to recruit and is a media recluse.

Paul Johnson, on the other hand, ran a dynamic offense at Hawaii, built Georgia Southern into a I-AA national power and won national championships with a powerful offense and smothering defense, and has accomplished unprecedented success at Navy. The guy has PROVEN the ability to turn a program into a very successful one year in and year out.

Just my $.02.

Yeah, someone 'higher up' informed me I should stop there and maintain mine and my family's privacy.

LATE NEWS: REPORTED ON LIFE IN THE RED (HUSKEREXTRA.COM) BOARDS!

Pelini Interviews For Nebraska Job; Players Meeting Called For Tuesday

LINCOLN, Neb. (KPTM) - Husker players are expected to learn Tuesday afternoon who will lead their team next year.

A player's meeting has been called for 4 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. Steve Ryan with bigredreport.com says the meeting has been called to announce a new coach, but not to introduce one.

Bigredreport.com also tells FOX 42 that coach is most likely Bo Pelini, who Tom Osborne interviewed Sunday. Pelini was defensive coordinator at Nebraska in 2003.

Who is this idiot?

It's not 1995. High school kids don't want to go to Nebraska, and there is little in-state talent. LSU has great in-state talent, and no in-state rival. We will be good for a long time, barring another terrible HC.

We are a top flight program, something Nebraska may never be able to say again.

Yeah, assuming you can get who you want WHEN you want.

If you haven't seen what I've said on other posts here and elsewhere, I have been a distant but strong admirer, respecter and fan of LSU FB (and Baseball for that matter) for a long time. Started tracking the FB team as my "South East Team" back in 1970-71 with my first Orange Bowl vacation as a youth.

I've been to a couple Nebraska-LSU games (6 total to be exact):

1970 Nebraska 17 LSU 12
1975 Nebraska 10 LSU 7
1976 Nebraska 6 LSU 6 (that would be 40-38 F/4OTs these days )
1982 Nebraska 21 LSU 20 (Turner Gill anyone?)
1984 Nebraska 28 LSU 10
1986 Nebraska 30 LSU 15

As far as recruiting? Guess what, take a look at our last few years' recruiting class rankings. Right up there with and even AHEAD of LSU's. But the now fired Coach, a recent former SUPER BOWL HC btw, was NOT a decent (remotely) HC at Nebraska.

We went 27-22 with all that 4 and 5 Star 'talent' over his 4 years. Roughly .500 in Conference over that span! He COULD NOT Coach and allowed his DC best buddy Kevin Cosgrove to destroy, in essence, the program.

However, we will be back one way or another. Mark that. And I truly do wish LSU all the best!

Two more wins; SEC Champs and BCS bowl champ.

A match up in a Bowl next year between Nebraska and LSU would be cool I think.

Don't believe we'd hang but WHO KNOWS?! College FB is freakin CRAZY.

I find it amazing that Neb. has reached a level where they can't get a quality guy with previous hc experience. Pelini may work out, but no way, if I'm Osborne, do I entrust Neb. football to a guy that has no meaningful hc experience. They need a guy with a proven record to get that thing turned around. Osborne should go get Solich back and at least bring some stability back to the program.

Tom Osborne won a National Championship a mere 10 years ago. Nebraska won 10 games as recently as 4 years ago. Nebraska won the Big 12 North last year against all these 'bad' teams like Mizz and Kansas.

Football is cyclical. Everybody has a period of time where you have losing seasons.

Pelini won't be winning 10 games anytime soon- he has proven to be an average at best defensive coordinator.

Gratz. Looks like you were a successful player and high school coach in some capacity. I have a couple of good friends who both played in the NFL, and actually one played his college ball in Nebraska, and trust me that doesn't necessarily mean you know more than someone without those accomplishments. No disrespect, but nothing you've said on here makes me think you know anymore than any other poster in this rant. Throwing around your conquests in football to make another seem unknowledgable is immature. That said, I disagree that LSU is going into the gutter like the Husker have the past few years. Nebraska has declined because they stopped getting good recruits and they changed who they were, option power football team. They had a few down years and switched coaches and philosophy. LSU may decline somewhat, but not to Neb extent.

Neb will be in the tank until they can get their walk-on program back to where it once was. If they can get those big corn fed guys to walk on and use the scholarships on receivers, running backs, and def backs they can stockpile at these positions and be very good in a few years. They also have to go back to running the wishbone.

Cornhusker, you seem to have done well back in the day as a player/coach. Now, one thing I am certain of: I am smarter than you.

NEVER let those you deem unworthy rattle your cage enough for you to boast like that of a teenager with self-esteem issues.....you SHOULD be better than that.

Bo just doesn't fit here. His schemes remind us too much of Lou Tepper (who we hate), and we really like the way Saban's defenses dominated. It's nothing personal.

I've never been that thrilled about Pelini as a DC. I don't like the fact that he hates the recruiting part of college football. I think a DC needs to be heavily involved in the recruiting process. A lot of times head coaches can't leave the state to see a recruit; as a recruit I would much rather have the DC come see me than the DB coach if I'm a D-lineman.

Besides from that, I'm not crazy about his defense. It seems that he doesn't make great adjustments untill it's too late. Based on his statistics as a DC he looks great, but when you watch his defense on TV they look skeptical from time to time.

Plus he is an a-hole and a pussy because he never blitzes.
