re: Pelini should not coach

You guys are a bunch of f*cking ingrates. You don't DESERVE to have Bo on your sidelines steering your stellar Defense, you LOSERS.

I will still root for you in your game, because of Bo, but in general you have a much higher percentage of inbred FB morons per capita on this board than any I've ever seen.

Pelini on coaching in the BCS title game

After the formal part of Bo Pelini's press conference, surrounded by reporters, Pelini left open the idea about coaching LSU in the national title game if the Tigers are in it.

"Their desire, Coach (Les) Miles' desire is that I help them through that national championship game if they get to play in a national championship game," Pelini said. "What that would mean here, that would be something I'd have to get a blessing from Coach Osborne on.

"But the thing that kind of allows you to do that these days (coach in a bowl game for another team) is the (recruiting) dead period. I would want to make sure I do the right thing by LSU for all the things they did for me. But that wouldn't really change anything from now and mid-December. I'm going to work for Nebraska right now. My focus right now is to put a staff together and begin recruiting."

The recruiting dead period starts on Dec. 17 -- coaches aren't allowed to contact recruits then -- and runs until Jan. 1.

One more note: Pelini said he has not yet signed a contract. "That'll work itself out pretty soon," he said.

Comments from any LSU faithful?

I might add that The Big Red Nation is adopting LSU through the BCS Title Game since we have no bowl to go to this year. We are living vicariously through your team.

No one expected the events yesterday to take place, particularly the West Virginia game. I would think even Mr. Pelini certainly did not expect this - seeing he is set to be named Nebraska coach Monday.

That said, does he resign from LSU immediately and not coach the defense in the National championship game (should we get there)?

Had this been just another bowl game - or even one of the BCS bowls, you would just promote someone within to interim def coordinator. With the surprise ascent to the NC game, I would think Pelini might want to be coaching this game - would he not?

If he imediately begins work at Nebraska, doesn't this create some distractions and continuity issues for the defense, going into the NC game?

I can see that Nebraska would want to get a jump on recruiting, but we are talking about the NC game here.

Huh, I thought you guys wanted to get rid of Bo Pelini.

I'll take LSU vs Oklahoma for the NC myself.

Those are the two best teams right now IMO.

HAS ANYONE GONE TO FLIGHTAWARE.COM TO SEE IF A PLANE HAS COME TO GET BO FROM LINCOLN ??

The plane that our AD has been using is blocked now, not public, on flightaware.com.

At LSU, Pelini has coached defenses that have ranked No. 3 in the nation three years in a row.

I'm sure the next DC will bring you No. 2 or No. 1.
Thanks Colonel,

Every Cornhusker I know was pulling for y'all last night, great Title win!

Bo will be incredible for us, best choice out there for US in my opinion.

I believe LSU looks outsider getting close.

You have to admit, the momentum of "permission to talk to" and "one out in his contract for Michigan job" and "Lloyd Carr retires" all were pretty compelling that he had to be in secretive talks, but who knows.

Coaches are (like) politicians. Homostreet probably saved Les for y'all, whether you wanted it or not.

Let's talk about that this February (Bo and recruiting), please remind me.

barring another terrible HC

Yeah, assuming you can get who you want WHEN you want.

If you haven't seen what I've said on other posts here and elsewhere, I have been a distant but strong admirer, respecter and fan of LSU FB (and Baseball for that matter) for a long time. Started tracking the FB team as my "South East Team" back in 1970-71 with my first Orange Bowl vacation as a youth.

I've been to a couple Nebraska-LSU games (6 total to be exact):

1970 Nebraska 17 LSU 12
1975 Nebraska 10 LSU 7
1976 Nebraska 6 LSU 6 (that would be 40-38 F/4OTs these days :banghead:)
1982 Nebraska 21 LSU 20 (Turner Gill anyone?)
1984 Nebraska 28 LSU 10
1986 Nebraska 30 LSU 15

As far as recruiting? Guess what, take a look at our last few years' recruiting class rankings. Right up there with and even AHEAD of LSU's. But the now fired Coach, a recent former SUPER BOWL HC btw, was NOT a decent (remotely) HC at Nebraska.

We went 27-22 with all that 4 and 5 Star 'talent' over his 4 years. Roughly .500 in Conference over that span! He COULD NOT Coach and allowed his DC best buddy Kevin Cosgrove to destroy, in essence, the program.

However, we will be back one way or another. Mark that. And I truly do wish LSU all the best!

Two more wins; SEC Champs and BCS bowl champ.

A match up in a Bowl next year between Nebraska and LSU would be cool I think.

Don't believe we'd hang but WHO KNOWS?! College FB is freakin CRAZY.
