Won’t happen. He has a list of 6 or 7 programs he is willing to go to. Of those 2 will likely have openings.

In no particular order:
Florida
Bama
LSU
UNC
Clemson
Tennessee

Possibly FSU

That’s about it. He is young and can afford to be patient while making $2M a year.

TCU is a good gig. Relatively low expectations and you get to live in Fort Worth.

Why do you think he turned down Baylor?? He is an SEC guy with a recruiting footprint in that part of the nation

Just came here to say my prediction is Napier to TCU.
TCU has made it pretty obvious they are going for an "offensive-minded" HC. Who would be a better target for that besides Napier?

This is starting to get ridiculous. What job did this guy not turn down?

Starting to look like he’s turned down every supposed job offer that wouldn’t be a total turn-key. Doesn’t appear that he wants to take on rebuilding a program; maybe he’s tired of doing that at ULL.

Literally the most conceited coach I've ever heard of in my entire life.

Some of you talk like you know him. I hope he doesn't have this much ego.

Prestige in the CFB world is fragile. One or two injuries to key players, he loses 3-4 games, and there goes his buzz because who wants a Sunbelt coach that just lost 4 games in a season?

Saban himself didn't wait for a huge job at Toledo, he got the hell out of there before they turned back into Toledo. ULL will turn back into ULL, it's just a matter of time.

No. Auburn fans said this is completely false.

Haha, so there's no shadow of a doubt then; that proved it!

Has it not crossed anyones mind that he can make $2M a year at a program that has been top 25 the last two years. He has full control of the program. Gets everything he asks for from the administration without having to deal with ego maniacs.

Plus he is 41 or 42, he will be considered a young coach for another 10 years. During that time if LSU doesn’t hire him, could have another coaching change of history shows anything. Every program listed except Bama and Clemson will have a change.

LSU is an incredible opportunity, no doubt about that, he probably wouldn’t turn it down either. But with Title IX issues and other stuff surrounding the program it’s not in as great a position as it should be.

Or maybe he wants to stay at UL until the football stadium renovations are 100% complete by 2023. No one really knows his plan, but he will not stray off of that plan. It’s one of the main reasons Napier is so different from other G5 coaches.

Again, if LSU offers I’m 99.9% sure he would accept it and everyone would be happy. Except the LSU fans that hate Louisiana so much that it would piss them off when he says UL or Louisiana when referring to the Cajuns.

Considering how much Patterson felt alone and the energy he had to spend to drum up for support I can see Napier passing.

Based on what he's rumored to have passed on already with AU and SoCar, I can't see him diving off into unfamiliar territory where the support from the admin is tentative and fickle at best.

Louisiana is in a completely different situation than Toledo ever was. Tremendous talent weighing 6 hours of campus, phenomenal facilities for a G5 and the SBC will be the top G5 conference after 2023.

I know 99% of LSU fans look down their collective noses at Louisiana. But this isn’t the same ole bullshite program that it was even 5 years ago.

The administration and athletic department are finally operating with a purpose of being the best it can be. Which is a borderline top 25 program vying for a NY6 bowl and 10 win seasons.

Low pressure situation for a coach, with a high ceiling for a G5, while making $2M a year. Where 8-10 wins essentially gets you a lifetime contract.

Or go to an elite program with unsustainable expectations for $6M and last 4-5 years if things go perfectly right out of the gate. 3-4 years if he stumbles.

I don’t know about you, but that’s not as easy of a decision as it appears at face value. Especially at LSU, where any coach hired is expected to win an SEC and National Championship within his first contract.

Compare that to FSU or UNC which have elite ceilings, but tempered expectations due to the current state of each program.

Bigger jobs that apparently had caveats and strings attached.

Only auburn came with strings. Ms St and USCe were rejected outright, reportedly.

Is TCU a better job than Miss St? Probably not and if so probably not much better. I think he passes on TCU if he passed on those 2.

The AD at USCe wanted Napier, the big money guys wanted Shane Beamer.

Well, if staying at ULL for a lifetime is even a consideration for him, then he's not the guy to run a top program quite frankly. No one can be a great coach at ULL.

The upside is why he would go to a top program. Pretty soon top coaches are going to be getting $15m a year. He'd have to work for 4-5 years to earn that at ULL, 3 to 4 years at a top school would have him set for life, and he can always go back down to G5 level. Once your door to get an elite job closes, it closes.
