From what I gathered Schroyer and Rousse have a good relationship and Schroyer and Will Wade have a good relationship.

Schroyer is THE reason Wade ended up at McNeese. Wade strongly considered hiring him as an assistant on Wade's first LSU staff. They are close. Schroyer on LSU's staff would give LSU something they haven't had since Eddie Nunez left, a person with some degree of knowledge about college basketball. Schroyer has 12 years of HC experience at multiple D-1 schools.

Wade is at a good spot at NC State. But his contract isn't huge (McMahon's was/is larger). Leaving after just one season would be tough, but LSU could make a very enticing offer with a familiar President, a familiar AD, and a very familiar network of boosters. The guy has lived in LA 7 of the last 8 years. He would seamlessly jump right back into the reigns here.

Will it work out? Who knows? But I'm very confident LSU will make a push for him at the end of the season.

All of what lsu777, BR Tiger and you have said is right in line with what I've heard.

It's why I said the desire to bring back Wade is real. And it's not just 1 sided from LSU either.

I was told they were going to go after brooks and one other then verge would be #3 choice, either my source was wrong or the BOS had already done that.

The BOS had already done that.

I have no doubt that Rousse has in the back of his mind promoting Schroyer in the event Verge leaves/retires/etc.

I suspect Verge has a plan to retire in 3-4 years when he hits 60. Just a hunch. This is the final leg of his long career in athletics.

Spoke to the guy I know yesterday. Saban is out, turned LSU's offer down. On Plan B I have nothing as of this morning

Some have said the Saban thing is a double secret probation smoke screen but I haven't heard that. If it really is Saban then my source is either lying (doubtful) or is getting smoked off the trail to keep things under wraps.

However, if everything I've been told is face value (and I have no reason to suspect otherwise) the Saban ship has sailed. LSU took its best shot and he turned it down.
If I'm wrong I'll eat my crow and probably get banned by Chicken, haha.

Okay then, that's probably true

I hope we can expect you back next week to tell us who is being persued next-

Bottom line LSU fans are hungry to be excited again.

Yeah hopefully they lock in on the next target and go full steam ahead. I am hoping it is Kiffin. Let us know when you hear from your source about who they are targeting.

You've been transparent with your info. I have no doubt Saban was offered. The one thing you didn't do was start firing off rumors as absolutes. For that, we respect you.

I heard there’s two paths with the choice but I don’t know what the 2nd path is. Timing of announcement is the problem but he could get cold feet and it not happen. I haven’t heard yet that he’s out. I don’t think Kiffin is in mix but my person could be hearing false information. Who knows.

Freeman

I have a weird hunch it’s Freeman. He’s not my first or second choice. I have PTSD from hiring BK from ND, but it would be a solid hire.

1. If your name is linked to a job, it’s because you at least allow your agent to link it. This is coaching carousel 101. Perhaps his agent is getting him paid and going to work the embarrassment of losing another coach to LSU angle. Or he is actually interested. You don’t see names if there is no one raising their hands behind the scenes showing interest. I also don’t see his name consistently linked to other open jobs like I have seen for LSU.

2. Josh Pate and all the hot boards have linked his name since day one. Which has somewhat baffled all LSU fans. It made no sense unless someone was actually feeding that to them.

3. Verge being made full time AD suddenly illuminated exactly where this Freeman smoke has been coming from the whole time. His name isn’t popping up everywhere. I think there is some smoke with Verge pushing for him and perhaps he wants to work for Verge due to the existing relationship.

4. I think he actually wanted to come here as DC in 2021 but it was very well known in agent circles that Coach O was a dead man walking and his family had no interest in getting caught up in that. Hence we ended up with no name coordinators.

This all speculation but there appears to be something here.

It's why I think Verge got the job. I think he has someone on the hook for the job. I originally thought Saban, but maybe it's Freeman. Hell, he sent his boys to play for the guy.
