"My plan is to assemble the best staff in America"

"My plan is to take the time and assemble the best staff in America," Orgeron said. "We have some great coaches on our staff right now led by Dave Aranda. He is the best coordinator in football and we plan on him being with us. I talked to him this morning and we're happy. Dave is going to be an LSU Tiger, I promise you that."

I guess having the best staff in the country doesn't entail having the best coordinator in the country.

He moved away from the mic to say "and destroy it after one season"

imagine you and your boss. you are smarter than your boss. you are better at your job than your boss. you do all of the work for the company.
why is he your boss?
this is why Orgeron never had a chance. anyone who thought he did is an idiot.

All...of...this

exactly this
it is why the "hire the best coordinators" idea would always fail

This is the exact worst case scenario one would expect when hiring a coach whose only asset is... hiring coordinators. Coordinators come and go, the head coach is the constant and the tone-setter for the entire program. Every single football fan in the country knew that aside from Joe Alleva.

O is like the guy on office space... I have people skills dammit. I talk to the customers so the engineers don't have to!!

I thought you were quoting Scott Woodward

If LSU were Initech and the Bobs came in, 0's arse would have been kicked to the curb along with Samir and Michael Bolton.

So true it makes me cry.

Les miles won national Championship with smarter coaches than him. So have countless other coaches. Guess none of those situations worked out Either.

that is extremely intellectually dishonest, but you know that. stick to trolling the MSB

No it’s not. Many coaches with smarter assistants than them have won. And won big.

sure, maybe smarter in their respective areas of expertise, but not at running programs, sustaining programs and recruiting.

This should hit the o pumpers hard

What is your disconnect? You mentioned Les Miles having coordinators that were "smarter than he" as if it somehow provided a defense to 0. I agreed that it is possible for there to be a dynamic where coordinators are "smarter" than the HC, but not as good at running and building programs and recruiting. Les Miles was good at those things. 0 is a good recruiter, I guess, but is dreadful at the latter two.

yeah, smarter at the Xs and Os of their respective areas. O is a cheerleader for a school with a built-in recruiting base. anyone could recruit well here. what else does O do?
