Is on the defensive side. I know it’s been talked about with recruiting the defensive side being easier in LA, but I’m still concerned.

Hopefully he can bring in a star DC and we become loaded on both sides of the ball.

You’re already thinking that far ahead? We’re still trying to sort out our sauces next door.

I feel confident that was one of the first things he and Woodrow discussed. Gotta have a decent D in the SEC...

He’s gotta commit to prioritizing defense. That unit has been Charmin soft since he took over and you can’t mask that with the passing game in the SEC.

Remember, he’s coming from a conference in which Jonathan Giles was a 1000yd receiver.

If the checkbook is open, they can get a big-time defensive coordinator.

The real issue is how long you'd keep him, because if they get real good real fast that guy is getting bombarded with offers.

You might actually be better off with an old veteran hand in that job who isn't really up for a big move up rather than a young gun DC. Not John Chavis, obviously, but a guy in that mold.

You dumb arse. He is arguably the best coach outside of saban in college football. His ability to recruit even better at LSU and his offense will attract the greatest defensive minds to join him.

Here’s the thing, his offense puts a lot of pressure on his own defense. The 2019 LSU offense did as well and you’ve seen the more prolific recent BAMA offenses do the same.

You can grind it out, keep your defense off the field, and win low-scoring games à la Miles, early Saban at BAMA, etc. Or you can score every five plays, run your defense back out there and hope they get some stops while being on the field the majority of the game and you win shoot outs.

There’s too much parity to do both, year in and year out. Every now and then or maybe one team per year, we’ll see one team that can totally dominate both sides of the ball - 2021 UGA, 2019 LSU, some of the Saban BAMA teams, a couple Dabo Clemson teams.
