My only concern about the new hires...........

is that there are an awful lot of alpha dogs on this staff. Can they work together?

my concern as well...this will be Miles #1 challenge with O, because d-line will be his most important responsibility as far as the success of the team is concerned. Not sure if O can completely be a loyal subordinate to Chavis in that role.

All the coaches are AlPHA'S....would you want any other kind?

I am not sure we have had enough alpha dogs on the staff recently. It will be nice to see coaches get in playes faces and make them show respect to the staff again.
Shouldn't be a problem and if it is, that coach can walk after this year.

Yeah, I understand that point. We have a coaching staff assembled similar to the way the Boston Celtics came together last year.

If coach O is willing to leave a pro team to coach D line at the college level, and not as a head coach or coordinator, I don't see where the ego would come from.

That's what he was @ SC and he did a great job. He did such a great job he received a hc position.

If, in fact, O comes in making more than Chavis, there could be some friction, unless Chavis knew this going in and was on board. You'd think Chavis would have to have some level of dissention knowing one of his position coaches is making more than him.

Understood, but in the corporate world, this would create all sorts of issues. Does O, with the additional titles and compensation, feel he needs to be subordinate to Chavis while on the practice field or in the film room?

O will do what he can to rebuild his rep. He can do just so much. If Vance gets the DBs he is aggressive, too. Hope the Chief is strong! You know that he tried for a HC, so maybe BEBE can be ready for the step up when the Chief goes. There will be some action on this LSU team. GEAUX.....................TIGAHS!!!!!!!!!!!

Chavis played good little foot soldier to Fulmer for two decades, he's not gonna freak out because LSU paid someone a lot of money to give him a shitload of defensive talent to play with.

All of these have been assistants before and should understand that's their role here.
There's probably always gonna be some friction among a coaching staff and most coaches have some degree of "alpha" element.

Something tells me Miles discussed these issues with Chavis in the interview process. Do yall honestly think he would sneak this in and lose his most important hires trust. I would venture to guess Miles approach to the Chief was we are going to pay you 500k to coach and prepare the defense. You will not have to hit the road recruiting like most of the staff. We are going to hire the best recruiter in the nation to do that job, but we are going to have to pay him.
I am in the corporate world in a profession that makes similar incomes and all I worry about is my salary and don't compare it with my colleagues that have different responsibilities. The Chief wouldn't have signed if he wasn't satisfied with his .150k raise.

Shouldn't be a problem as long as O isn't a prima donna. I had a guy that made more than me once and I wanted to pay him more. He was worth two "normal" employees. 
If you have someone who is good at what they do and they're not a complete arse, it's not a problem at all.
