who is dan's agent? Hot commodity? Is this like when JD drew was a hot commodity?
He's a servicable coach no doubt, but this certianly won't "win the press conference" for psu. As i recall UF didn't even contact hima bout teh UF opening, which should tell you something of either the perception of mullen or the dire straits of the PSU program.

He's definitely gone if they offer, but I find it hard to believe that Penn State can't get a better coach/bigger name than Dan Mullen.
This reeks of an agent using PSU to get more money for Mullen. I can't for the life of me imagine why he would be their top choice. They were a huge disappointment.

He might not be their top choice, but they really don't have a choice. No coach with a comfy seat at another school and is getting paid $3M+ is going to leave to go into that mess.

I think you will be surprised.

Nothing against Mullen, he's okay, but he's certainly not a big name elite coach IMO.
Maybe they saw the way he handled the sCam Newton situation and looked for someone with integrity. They could care less how he did against Bama, LSU and Arky. They don't play them on a regular basis. But the schooling he did to Michigan got their attention.

ESPN radio says Mullens father is a leader in the Penn State alumni group. Raised in New Hampshire next door and a natural to go back. Other names on the list are Saban and Mark Recht of Georgia.

The people in here are incredibly myopic if you think he couldn't go to the Big Ten and knock some heads around. Going from the SEC to the Big 10 equates roughly to CUSA. He would be very successful outside the SECW

Big 10 = CUSA
You are like the clown earilier in the year that couldn't understand why a recruit would pick Mich. over Miss St. because they were in the SEC... Some of you'll need to get out more.

Not really. His stock has dropped significantly. He wouldn't be able to sniff the Penn State job if not for the extenuating circumstances.
Having said that, I think the negatives surrounding Penn St. outweigh Mullen's dimming star and he will pass on the job if offered. More than likely, he will not be offered.

following paterno, esp in the present environment is career suicide. no way a big name goes there right now. what they need is the sacrificial lamb to hold down the fort till the storm blows over.

I hear Curley Hallman has time on his hands. PSU ought to give him a call. Curley coached a QB that liked showing his private parts. That might sell up in State College.

I think Hud declining the OM job the day the Mullen stuff really heated up is telling, IMO.

Hud never had an offer to decline. Hud never ranked higher than 3rd on Ole Miss' list.
