I'd say if he wants to go we shouldn't put up a fight.

He isn't going to work until he's 70......Is he?

So why not let him go on his own now, by him leaving we won't have a black eye on the university of forcing out a winning coach.

Seems like we'd be able to get more capable coach in that manner. (more capable than if we forced him out...who would want to work for us then..nobody in their right mind)

I mean 5 years down the road from now...now...why not now?

I'm not screaming that I want him gone, but if Michigan offers, and he comes back to us to match the offer (assuming its over 4.3 mil) you have to say no.

I understand LSU fans demand a certain standard of excellence, especially after y'all's recent (10+ years of) success. But I just don't understand the mentality that y'all would be better off if one of LSU's winningest HCs of all time went to some shitty B1G program.

Hiring a winner is NOT easy and most schools take at least two or three rounds on the coaching carousel before they hire another winner at HC

Right, but none of us have anything to do with that.

i get that and i agree

but my whole argument/point is based on the fact that he'll be leaving/retiring in 5 years anyways

I'm a Miles supporter, but this is a bad assumption. Miles can't go back to that well again. He received an extension and raise one time already. There is no match it or beat it this time. It goes something like this: "Les, we want you to stay and we've shown our commitment to you, but you just need to decide what you want to do. Stay, and let's win the SEC next year, but I'll understand if you want to go ride off in the sunset at Michigan. No hard feelings."

Right, but wouldn't you want him to retire at LSU? For him to recommend a replacement? To continue to be a great ambassador for LSU sports? He would kill at fundraisers and you could squeeze at least 3 more seasons of success out of him .

It's coming from people who don't really consider reality.

Hiring a HC is complicated and we happen to reside in a unique state and play in the most cutthroat recruiting/talent division in college football.

If we were guaranteed to get a proven winner, I wouldn't worry. Problem is...

Looks pretty good for 61 so I wouldn't dismiss the possibility.

Things health wise are getting better every year. Last year I had a 70 something year old landlord who did all kinds of stuff.

My grandfather at 70 years old back in 1990 looked old as frick

Many Philadelphia Eagles fans were saying that before Andy Reid left. Two years later we are very happy with Chip Kelly. Ironically, it is Chip Kelly that I would most like to see take over at LSU if Miles leaves.

Exception, not the rule.

For every Chip Kelly there are 10 Ron Zooks.

Hell there are many that run Skip Bertman's name in the ground, Miles certainly wouldn't be spared.
