Miles and Michigan Reps are expected to meet on Tuesday...

...a source with knowledge of the situation told The Detroit News on Sunday.
"...we'll do what we need to do to get the right coach to come to Michigan." - Michigan AD Dave Brandon

The way I see it, If Miles doesn't want to be at LSU anymore, for whatever reason, then it will serve him and LSU best if he goes back to his Alma Mater. I wish him well either way. If he leaves now, with his 62-17 record, he'll be remembered as one of the greatest LSU coaches ever, probably in time even by the NegaTigers. If he stays, then I hope he kicks Oregon's arse in September.

So they are meeting with Miles on Tuesday in Dallas. Finally, something that makes sense.

This should be the subject of your thread:
This is actual NEWS.

This would affirm what WBRZ's Michael Kelly tweeted 4 hours ago:
shite's getting real.
I wonder if Hoke is already in Dallas or if Brandon met with him when he was out in Scottsdale. Figure Miles is the first choice but Brandon must want Hoke lined up as a quick fallback option. Wouldn't be surprised if he already took care of making sure Hoke is ready to go if he gets the call to the bullpen.

This is some fricking Bull shite. If Miles ends up leaving Michigan is my new #1 hated program.
Why would it take days to decide if you want Les Miles? It just doesn't make sense. He is by far the best candidate right now.
Hopefully all this dragging out of the process means Miles is staying. This would be the most fricked up thing by an AD since Auburn started interviewing people behind Tubberville's back in '03.

Why?
We knew from day one that Miles' dream job was Michigan. No one should be surprised or angry. Hell, after the Tennessee game I'm sure half the stadium would have helped him pack.
Are you going to boycott Dominos too?

If Les goes to Michigan I will pull for Michigan as long as they are not playing us.

I am not going to hate Michigan because of Miles. I will hate them because of their stupid AD and his horrible coaching search.
How fricking hard is it to identify and select either Miles or Hoke? It is fricking stupid.
It just screws over our program having shot up in the air for what looks like a week.

I am forced to disagree with this as well. Coaching searches often take MUCH longer than a week. It just seems too long because everone on this board, myself included, has hit refresh about 95,000 times this week.

Getting the right replacement, if needed, is the most important thing. We should not rush a hire to "save" one recruiting class. We may have a few OOS defections, but a good hire that brings buzz could keep it together and may even put a few new recruits in play.
Holding unto a situation that is perceived as stable and "good enough" is a natural response to an uncertain future. However, the future is never guaranteed to go "the way it's always been". Winners should not be afraid of failure, even though the unknown is scary; Lesticles taught us that.

""I just want you to know, that Michigan, when you look at our compensation packages for our head football coach, we've traditionally been in kind of the middle of the pack," Brandon said. "And I don't necessarily believe that's appropriate.
"My point is, there's a market out there and you pay for value and the marketplace dictates what those price tags are. I want you to know, my philosophy, and I believe my boss and my boss' bosses, understand that concept, and we'll do what we need to do to get the right coach to come to Michigan."
This is a huge signal to Big Les.

We have 15/21 commits from LA. I dont see us losing anyone on D# on OOS so I think we're pretty safe in recruiting if he leaves for Michigan

I was told this afternoon that he had not met with the AD and wouldn't until this week, sometime. I wasn't told why it wouldn't happen before then, though. I guess he's letting PP do his thing and that he's going to speak, first.

Mid January sucks for replacing a coach. Your list of available candidates shrinks. Its awful timing if it happens. I think they know who they want. Maybe it's Hoke, but its one of the two.
This is kind of why I think UM and Miles will end up together. Michigan is moving way to slow not to know what it is doing.

It might not be MI going slow. Could be Les not wanting to take the attention from PP tomorrow and the coaches' conference on Tuesday. Just a thought.
However, he's apparently interested if he's agreed to talk to them and I would think his agent has been given a figure by now, but I'm guessing.

I wish DIck Rock would have not won a game this season and then they could have fired him before the season was over and they could have contacted Miles a long time ago, that is if they really don't have a policy where they don't contact a coach before his season is over. If that is their policy, I don't like it.

Now THIS is sticky worthy

Okay, mid January is not ideal, but doesn't the situation somewhat cancel that out? Aren't a great many coaches going to take notice of grade A talent, facilities, venue, fan supoort, fertile recruiting ground, national reputation and tradition and say, "Holy shite, one of the premier jobs in college football is open?" Suddenly, January doesn't mean a whole lot.
