I think Gundy would be a fantastic hire for LSU. Any chatter about him? In all honestly, Gundy at LSU would make me more nervous than Herman at LSU. There is a lot to be said for continued success over time. There have been a long line of flash-in-the-pan coaching failures in college football. For every Urban Meyer, there are 10 Rich Rodriguez's.

Reasons to hate a Gundy hire that have been given so far in this thread:
1. He coaches at the school Miles coached at when LSU hied Miles.
2. He once had a silly meltdown in defense of a player who was attached in a newspaper article.
Honestly, these aren't exactly compelling so far.

I like Herman, I like his offense...but I agree, he is green. The jump from UH to LSU is huge and I think he's gonna need more experience before he takes a bull by the horns job, especially one in Saban's division.
BUT
The table is set for a young go-getter to succeed here. Full cupboard (understatement) and no sanctions. IF Herman is interested, it's the best situation for him vs. having to rebuild elsewhere top to bottom.

Plus Herman was successful at a big program in Ohio State, and has beaten bigger superior programs in FSU and Oklahoma recently.

He's been good at Ok State. Would be a pretty good hire. Far better than people like Orgeron that some are suggesting.

He has 1 conference championship in 12 years at OSu. I think LSU needs to shoot higher than that for the next head coach.

Another coach that wouldn't be a popular hire but would be a good one. Would he leave his alma mater tho? I guess with the uncertainty of the big 12 going forward he might be more inclined to leave now than he has in the past but still would be a tough pull.
