Casty at myself...
He says Jefferson is three times better than Harris.

You comparing that somewhat freak play to a coach not taking out quarterbacks with no production through 3 quarters, spiking a ball with one second, fake field go on fourth and ten plus past the thirty, and countless others?
Saban might occasionally slip up but he wins titles. Les wants slack, win something then.

A bowl game every season is next to useless brah.
No, "brah"...not when you have the longest active streak in CFB. I said bowl games come cheap now a days, but we have played in major ones since Miles has been here. Yes, the Peach Bowl is a solid bowl game.
quote:
And are you really crediting Miles for his record and a bowl appearance this year even though we didn't have a quarterback? He is responsible for developing talent and he hasn't developed that position at all in his time here.
I've heard this already. He's the HC. And besides, give me an era (10 years or so) where football at LSU was better. GO ahead.

Also..you say Harris is three times better than Harris?
Harris on weed is 3x better than Harris? Harris on viagra? On steroids? Dating a blowup doll?
I said JEFFERSON. And that was this year ONLY. I realize what Harris is going to do for us. I am just pointing out that even a bum like Jordan Jefferson could have ran the read option this year and done consistently well. I think you fail to realize just how bad our qb play was. 2014 got nuttin on 2004. Randall or a young Russell would have done better with this team.

He's won 2 SEC c'ships and a national title and played for one more. GO back to Chollie Mac, Stovall, Arsnsparger, and Archer who all had no better than 10 win seasons (Archer only). What did we come up with?

10 win seasons are much easier to come by these days with 13 game schedules.

CLM is not leaving LSU. He will not get a pay raise or an extension either. He's here until he retires. I'm no pumper. I'm calling it like I see it.

It was a huge freakin mistake not a freak play. C'mon man. Miles would have taken a knee and played in overtime. That was the smart play.
2011 LSU Bama game. Saban insists on trying FGs, one for 50+, instead of punting, playing field position, and relying on that incredible defense. LSU played hard in that game but Miles took advantage of the mistakes Saban made.
If I looked back at Saban's time at LSU, I beat I could find a few more gems. The one I really like is him leaving us in 2004 with only 13 scholarships. How is that for planning?
Wanna talk about QB recruiting and development....and players leaving early for the draft. Sure. 2004 QB was senior Marcus Randall with two RS freshmen....both better than Randall....but Randall got most of the snaps. Sounds familar you don't say eh? That year...total QB stats - 19 TD and 10 INTs. Not great numbers.
Hey, you say, why only 3 QBs on the roster with Randall your best option and no junior or soph QBs in the wings? Between 2000 to 2002, he recruited only 3 QBs. In 2003, he picked up Russell and Flynn. His last recruiting class at LSU had zero QBs. Matt Mauck came over when Saban was hired. And he left LSU early for the pros after the 2003 season, leaving senior Randle.
Again, look objectively. Coaches make mistakes. All coaches make mistakes.

Yeah because shula couldnt recruit. Les won the sec west his first year with the hurricanes.
I just replied to he isnt winning anything with saban there. I said Les won one title and played for another with saban at bama. Til this day no other coach has done that. Not urban meyer, not yet at least.

This. We're not in the 70's anymore.
And people need to stop going bonkers over 'a bowl game every year'. It would be difficult for LSU not to make a bowl game every year these days with the built in cupcakes most upper tier teams have on the schedule every year. It pretty much spots you 3-4 wins per season to start.

Remind me again, how did our facilities stack up with the rest of the country prior to Saban? Saban did a good job created the infrastructure to recruit. Miles has done well building on that infrastructure in the recruiting battles. The difference is Saban maximizes the talent that he gets, we do not. We consistently have top 5 or better talent. The last three years, we have not a put a top 5 product on the field.
Yeah Bo (80%) to Moeller (75.8%) to Carr (75.3)
Michigan is a blue blood that can recruit anywhere right next to Ohio, but kids line up to play for blue.. One bad coach can turn it around and two can put you were we are. You should wise up a bit because lets face it LSU is not and has never been Michigan but here we are. You can thank Miles because Saban wasnt around long enough to build the brand.

Any coach can have success at LSU when you recruit the way that Miles has. He is a good recruiter and that combined with hiring 2 capable DCs has been why he has been successful in his tenure. Special players making special plays have covered over his coaching deficiencies many times. Our coach is more known for being a goofball than for his coaching philosophy.
I'm convinced that those who love Miles and hope he stays until retirement are a small vocal minority. I have a large family that is spread out all over the state and when we talk LSU football there seems to be more frustration than affection for Miles.

I hate this argument. Why look to improve in the future when you can obsess over the failures of the past? Brilliant.

I find it hilarious yet pitiful that so many of you take national title appearances for granted like they sre no big deal. Shows how little grasp on the football landscape that many of you have.
I know I don't take National Title game appearances for granted, in fact, just the opposite. But, it sure appeared like our head coach took it for granted...I don't know if he did, but looking at the game plan and the lack of either in-game or half-time adjustments sure points in that direction.

This is what bothers me about LSU fans. Saban inherited some pretty good talent and was only here 4 years. Dinardo did a good job recruiting. LSU is in better shape now than when Miles took over.
Saban is a great coach, but he made mistakes while here and cost LSU in 2005 recruiting (signed only 13 players). I believe the NFL taught him some valuable lessons and he has become a better coach because of that experience.
