Because soooooo many coaches have won BCS Titles

Lots of coaches have had 2 loss seasons, though

But I agree no other coach had so many things beyond his control fall in his favor as he did in 2007.

LSU was clearly the best two loss team and deserved to play for the title. I just think if he was elite he doesn't have to make the "undefeated in regulation" argument. He beats Kentucky or Arkansas, or both.

To this point Les Miles has not reciprocated #Michigan's interest.

The online Miles divide wars will go on no matter what but can we stick to relevant topics regarding this news for the moment?

1.) Does anyone support a raise/contract extension for Miles resulting from this?

2.) How much is Miles' buyout currently for another school?

I believe it. But it's not swim lanes. This is the search firm seeing who's available in case Harbaugh says no. If so, the search firm can tell Hackett which of Mullen/Miles/Cutcliffe/Stoops/Payton/Patterson/Schiano/Tom Herman/Mora Jr./Jerry Kill/Mike Trgovac/Mike Tomlin/Teryl Austin/Al Golden/Bill Belichek/Jon Gruden/Jay Gruden/Gru the guy from Despicable Me/Joe Lombardi/Vince Lombardi/Dale Earnhardt/Dale Earnhardt Jr Or Bevo the Texas Mascot might be interested if it gets to that.

He does a great job of getting us around 8-10 wins a year but the 2007 title... you have to say... we lucked our way into a title. Lost twice, to two unranked teams, one at home.

To be fair, there was a certain amount of luck in 2003.

We lost to an unranked Florida at home (3-3 at the time. Ended season at 8-5 and ranked 24th). It took Syracuse beating Notre Dame and Boise St beating Hawaii to have the computers move USC from the #1 to #3 in the BCS standings.

I believe LSU used all of its luck in 2003 and 2007 and had nothing left for 2011.

Regardless, luck was a HUGE factor in 2003. No one can argue that.

We should start a "coaching strategy" thread series. In it, we put hypothetical situations a coach would deal with, but these hypotheticals would mirror all of Les' dumbass moments.

It would be interesting to see how the sunshine pumpers would contort themselves on that one.

"So you have 100 yards of offense going into the fourth, not down by much. Your quarterback is looking terrible and we can't run because they have nine men in the box. What do you do?" Well anyone with a brain would bench that quarterback and try another, but some of these pumpers would argue in our real life context that Jennings was fine staying in the game.

fricking idiots.

LSU recruits itself. They can plug anyone and everyone into that spot and easily win 9 games at minimum.

As you can tell, THIS IS LSU!!!! There's no way LSU could turn into Florida or Texas or USC or Michigan.

Yeah thats what everyone thinks until it happens remind me again of the winning percentages and national title games the four or five coaches before saban had ??

So this thread started on the coaching changes board and then got moved to the Rant. Then it was subsequently brought back to the coaching changes board and promptly anchored.

Did anybody else notice that?

A bowl game every season is next to useless brah. Hate to break it to you.
If it ain't playoffs then it doesn't really matter does it?

And are you really crediting Miles for his record and a bowl appearance this year even though we didn't have a quarterback? He is responsible for developing talent and he hasn't developed that position at all in his time here.

Also..you say Harris is three times better than Harris?

Third post in a row and I will stop now.

You and Choctaw , rather than defending the substance of Miles'stupidity and bad coaching would rather just deflect and call people bad fans.

I wanna play. Can we use another coach though? Thanks!

Instead of taking my talent rich team (after years of stockpiling talent ) to overtime which I have a pretty good damn track record, I wanna try a 57 yard FG on the road with a freshman kicker against my biggest rival. BTW, my freshman kicker is 1-2 and not my starter. I am just gonna throw him in and see wtf happens. Oh yea, I am a coach known for planning every detail, but on the missed FG, my team allows the missed FG to be return for a 109 yard TD to lose the game.

Look. Coaches screw up. It is easy to play armchair QB here. We, as fans, don't know a tenth of all the information on why a game is called a certain way. It is just how it is.

Remind me again, how did our facilities stack up with the rest of the country prior to Saban? Saban did a good job created the infrastructure to recruit. Miles has done well building on that infrastructure in the recruiting battles. The difference is Saban maximizes the talent that he gets, we do not. We consistently have top 5 or better talent. The last three years, we have not a put a top 5 product on the field.

Lol. You really think it is dumb to attempt a potential game winning field goal with a second left from 57 yards?
