Really, how could that happen? It would cause a PR firestorm that LSU would inherit. Do we really need that?

Was that really that big of a deal to the people of Louisiana?

It may be rough at first, but it will look like this is where he wanted to come all along. I feel if he comes back it will be until he retires.

I think to some it was. For others it was the announcement ruining Christmas. For others it was taking credit for Sugar Bowl win. There are a lot of reasons people can find to dislike him.

i'm not sure, but there were more than a handful of morons out there who were appalled and/or offended by his comments.

No, not instantly. But deep down, I think fans still love Saban for what he did to raise our program from the dead. Ask most people what he said and I bet they couldn't remember or care less.

True.

He put LSU back on the map...in a BIG way. 99% would welcome him back. All he would have to do is take a pay cut from 4 mil to 3 mil - tell the media this is where his heart is and DONE! 10 years later he's Gov.

And I don't even think that would be a lie.

I do kinda miss stuff like this..."You're never gonna beat them unless you got it"

That said, I don't want him back. And I don't think he comes back.

That stuff is classic...

I agree with you on all three points...
I miss it, don't want him back, don't think he's coming back!

Sure doesn't look like Saban is enjoying the AL ride. They expected him to win it all in his first year.

That was a good press conference, even with the 9-11 analogies. He was right, even may have been hypocritical about a few things, but alot of things he said were true.

The only way that Saban can repair his image would be to come back to LSU for a pay cut. Nobody would be able to say that he is only in it for the money. And all he would have to say to LSU fans is "It wasn't college football that I missed... it was LSU that I missed". Everybody would love him again. It would be a win/win for him. And if he really is an LSU man at heart, he wouldn't give a crap about what Alabama thinks about him. That said, I don't see this happening.

If Saban came back, he would need presidential secret service protection the next time we play Bama at their house.

It would be like nothing ever seen in Alabama. You thought there were alot of police dogs at the Iron Bowl this weekend.

They would be in frickin riot gear!!

I am sorry ...but i just don't believe this would happen ever in a million years.

i agree that coming back to LSU for a paycut w/ a buyout is the only way he could redeem his image...but it would only be to us. We would get creamed nationally for hiring him back and he would have less then zero credibility. The media just wouldn't allow it to be spun that way...they HATE him!

I think even if possible it would all be too much and we would beg off.

...but to be honest i don't think this is even plausible..
