I know Rhule is a young up-and-comer, but Im really not so sure he'll be as successful at Baylor as Briles was.

Saban himself couldn't lead us to 10-2 next year

There is always risk but this was about as solid a hire as Baylor could've made.

Who could they have gotten that would be more of a lock to be successful?

Some guy in the other thread was just saying he was a flavor of the month that fell off this year.

Who could they have hired who would have as much success as Briles did? Rhule is a home run for them.

Yeah for their situation this was very good. They have like one commit for their current class, a staff in place that basically admitted it hasn't been trying which has to be awful for the culture, and what seems like a pretty awful relationship with some fans and donors. Rhule will at least get the most out of what they have there and right the ship even if he doesn't win big.

So is this a stepping stone job?

Can't seem him staying there long term

He can do much better than Baylor.

I thought I read his dream job was Penn State?

That job looks to be closed for awhile now.

don't know about this hire, according to his wikipedia page he doesn't have any experience coaching in TX (or the south)

Carolina is the south. And he will make a few hires to help with recruiting.

There are so many assistants around with experience recruiting in TX it isn't hard to hire people with those connections

Also if you can recruit you can recruit, not every person who recruits well in certain areas was born and worked exclusively there

Yeah it's possible he stays at Baylor for a while if he has success. It's going to be interesting to see how that team performs next year since what he's been running at temple is completely different than what Baylor was running.

Honestly shocked we snatched Rhule.

Couldn't be any happier. I thought we were for sure going to be stuck with Singletary or someone who was at Baylor before.

So I guess the only question now is how will Baylor fans react when he wins his first game 10-3?
