Matt Rhule is a really good coach, but I don't understand this hire at all. It reminds me of how odd the fit was of Bronco Mendenhall getting hired by Virginia last year.
I think personality-wise he'll be okay. He's not a Texas guy but I think he's smart enough to hire Texas guys for his staff to show him the way. My biggest question is with his coaching philosophy. I can't help but think that Baylor may have lost their identity with this hire.
Mack Rhoades is a really good AD with lots of experience making really good hires though so I think we should just trust his judgment with this one.

This is an absurd post. Strong took over a team full of highly ranked recruits.
Rhule will take over a team missing 1.5 recruiting classes. Any rational person realizes this is a 4+ year rebuild job from a depth perspective.

i predict they finish in the top 20 in recruiting this year because of this. He has 2 full months to steal some guys
Baylor's best class in the Big 12 era (the 2016 class that got dismantled) was ranked 17. I highly doubt Rhule will be able to throw together a top 20 class after this season (though I hope I am wrong).

What's so hard to understand? They were lucky to find a decent coach to take the job with the impending shite storm that could rain down on them. At best, Rhule is walking into a team that has 1 commit at this point. Doesn't exactly bode well for the future.
Lol stfu.
This coming from the guy that said we would at best get Blake Anderson.

The guy has zero ties to Texas. Chad Morris is going to recruit circles around him.

How the hell did Baylor make a better hire than we did? WTF?!?!
And people forget how bad Baylor was. They will have patience and they also understand what just happened with Briles and will give some slack to rebound. It's a fantastic hire on Baylors part.

Baylor interviewed a young up and coming coach. Wonder what that is like.
